Weird Question about Schwertfisch

Post by fifthtea_sausage » Sun Mar 06, 2005 5:38 am

I heard this word schwertfisch or schwertfischen already 3 times in seperate contexts. I know its a European word but I can't find a definition and I don't know what language its in.

Sorry for the OT topic, I'm just curious.
Thanks,

It's probably German for "swordfish"...that's about what i can come up with.."schwertfischen" being the plural form....

Yep, that's German alright. The U-96 submarine (the one in "Das Boot") was nicknamed "Der Schwertfisch", iirc.

Well, yes... Schwertfisch means swordfish, but the plural is Schwertfische.
