In morte Johannes Pauli II

Post by Dark Angel » Mon Apr 04, 2005 1:11 pm

This Topic to say Good Bye to the Pope, to tell a thought, to say a prayer, too... to remember the man before the Head of Catholich Church, a man who has done a lot of good things...

Farewell Karol, maybe you could smile if I tell you that there were more people in the Church yesterday, after your death, than on Easter...
Farewell Karol, two millions people are going in Rome to pray for you...you have spoken to millions of hearts...
Thank you Karol, for your 27years in which you have made Church more human...
...don't let my memory die,
but now it's time to be gone...

I agree 100% with this. I'm not a catholic myself but I think people only speak about what he has done bat but don't see he has done very good things too.

I'm not either (I'm Lutheran), but I figure I could redeem myself by saying a prayer to see off the Pope.

*ahem*

Merciful Father, whose dear Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, rose Victor over death and the grave, we remember with thanksgiving your faithful servant, John Paul II, who has served you throughout his lifetime. There is no more suffering and pain for your faithful servant, only eternal life in Your Kingdom. Turn our sorrow and tears into joyful cries. We humbly implore You to strengthen us in the confident hope of the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come; through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Amen
Somehow I still have an account...yay...?

Excellent, I agree with this. If anyone has any negative thoughts about the Pope and Catholicisim, there's two other threads to vent yourself with.

The pope was a great man. Sure I disagree with some things he did (especially about contraception and abortion) but he did great things for peace.

I know he is with God now. May He keep him close.

This was a pope who took advantage of all the new possibilities he had, that previous popes didn't have, such as better means of travel and communication with other Peoples. I'm only sorry about his very conservative positions about some known issues, but I must say that, overall, his time in charge of the Catholic church was positive to the World.
