Hey, after many years of not being able to see any power metal bands, they are all suddenly starting to come to Canada! HammerFall and Edguy are coming in August to Toronto, and they are also going to play in Montreal, Vancouver and Quebec!!!

The influence of power metal is expanding!! Hahahhahhahaha!!!!

At the same time the time for power metal bands is going down here... OK, I'm one of the people never doing what other people do so I wouldn't know. Good for HammerFall I suppose, but I didn't fall for power metal because everyone else did, I fell for Strato because they were worth it ;)

The general sound of the genre and the "hero/dragons" shit I dislike all the same and I think HF falls into the Glorious Hero category after all... They fucking rule musically but not like Dream Theater and they're not honest like Timo Tolkki used to be.. So I give them 6 out of 10 and kick their asses to keep up the good work but that's all, I won't headbang ;)

Whoever said anything about falling for power metal because everyone else did??
I've been listening to power metal for years, and I listen to it because I love it... besides, I couldn't possibly have been a victim of the "power metal trend" because power metal in North America wasn't a trend at all... In any case Jaakko, you in Europe have been exposed to the trend much more than I have
And I didn't say I love HF in every aspect either; in fact, I HATE lyrics about dragons, fantasy tales, rebels wearing leather, etc. But I do like their music, just like I love Rhapsody's music even though I hate their lyrics. There are very few bands that have both beautiful music and lyrics.
I like HF's music enough to go to a concert, even though they are going to play with Edguy, which I don't like or hate... I don't mind seeing them live, but I wouldn't buy their albums. I've never liked German power metal, it's more straightforward and it hass less keyboards.

@Jaakko: If you are one of the people never doing what other people do, you should enjoy lyrics about being a rebel
Oh and not doing what everyone else does is not a very original idea either.

Wonder what the fuck Anders is doing with that lame band, he could do much better stuuf with all his talent. So basically I totally agree with Jaakko, as metal musicians I respect them but I wouldn't go see one of their shows or buy their records.

I agree. He could be in such a better band.

WAIT A MINUTE.

Maybe Anders should go and join Blind Guardian? Since Thomen has left and all...

I used to be a fan, but they don't really do anything for me anymore. Still, I think their first album, "Glory to the Brave", is a solid slice of metal. Not the most original band on the block, but then again, not many metal bands are particularly original...

Glory To Brave & Legacy Of Kings: Too much of copying Manowar and Accept
Renegade & Crimson Thunder: Great
One Crimson Night (Live): One of the best live-albums/DVDs ever. Joacim Cans sings very well on this
Chapter V: A bit lame

And now I've just found out that Rhapsody are also coming to Toronto... Yeah I hate their lyrics but I love their music...
After years of emptiness, over a period of nine months I saw/will see Nightwish (although I saw them a couple of years ago as well), Sonata Arctica, Rhapsody, HammerFall and Stratovarius... and I have a feeling Angra is going to come to Canada too, after all, they already came once.

I think I'm going to have a heart attack!

My favourite song from them is Trailblazers. It reminds me to Stratovarius. I also like Dragon Lies Bleeding, Dreamland, Heeding the Call, etc etc songs.
The new album doesn't conatin too much new stuff, but it is a well made album, and I'm looking forward to hearing them live.
