Official News - Jari Leaves/Lauri is the next bassist

Stratovarius changes Bass Player
Long-time bass player Jari Kainulainen has left Stratovarius. There is no drama or bad blood. Jari just doesn't have it in his heart to tour this heavily anymore.

Jari is not dropping out of the scene, he will continue to play metal.

The new bass player is Lauri Porra. He is 27 years old and a native of Helsinki, Finland. He looks like this. He has previously played with Sinergy, Warmen and Kotipelto.

Says Lauri: "I'm very honored to be invited to play with Stratovarius and follow in the steps of such a great bass player as Jari. I'm really looking forward to going on the road with Stratovarius, to meet some old friends, and to hopefully make lot of new ones."

No, that is Russian lake...

That place is MAYBE somewhere in Saimaa (big lake in Finland)... and album pics, I think that they have photographed in studio (I have read Imperiumi.net pre-review, and there was strato photo session for the album. Or for something... )

He is not only an amazing player, but he also has the atittude on stage.
I was really impressed by Lauri when I saw him live. I have seen many bass players, but really few of them "stroke" me like he did.

Lauri is a really cool person... a bit weird (in a nice way) but cool !

Lauri also played in a project called "THE CRAZY * (name always change) OF M.JÄRVINEN" who used to cover Judas Priest, Led Zep, The Who... For a long, this band was formed with Lauri, Tuomas WÄinölä (the guitar player for Kotipelto), and drums and keyboard of H.I.M ! some Gamma Ray guys played as guest

Well, that's nice, but you know that he's married, eh?

I'm also sad that he left, but after all what has been said, and also what I experienced when I met the band, my impression finally was true that he was not that much involved in the band like the others. I guess it's okay, no bad blood, no struggle... just a smooth step out and a harmonic way to quit.

And Lauri - he's a bit younger than the other ones, I very much hope that he will kick their asses on stage. Except Timo Kotipelto all look so static when they play live.
