What audio player do you use?

Post by Stealth » Sun Oct 09, 2005 6:07 am

I want to know what you think about different audio players. Which one is your favourite? Oh and by the way, I'm talking about audio players for the computer, like Winamp, Windows Media Player, etc.
I use JetAudio; it's the best of the ones I know. It supports a lot of formats (such as .ape, .ogg, .asx, etc.) and it also converts formats. What I really like about JetAudio is the toolbar mode, which shows a little audio toolbar just above Windows's toolbar (the one with the "Start" button). With JetAudio's toolbar I can change most of the player's basic settings without having to maximize and minimize the player's main window all the time. It can also play videos, but I use it only for audio.

So, what players do you use?

I use the basic Windows Media Player 10 of the satanic corporation Microsoft. The media library thingie is kinda good and that's the main reason of using it. If it could be removed from my computer I would do that and get a better player.

Foobar2000.

I've used a lot of other players, but none satisfied me as much as this one.

Windows media player 10, but because my computer's sounds sucks right now (maybe virus here somewhere) I don't use it often. I listen stereos.

I've used ipods with iTunes and I simply hate iTunes! It's really annoying to use... It would erase all the mp3s in the ipod once I connected the ipod to the usb port...

I've heard about Foobar, but never used it so far.

Here are screenshots of JetAudio:

If it could be removed from my computer I would do that and get a better player.
Control Panel/Add Remove Programs/Add Remove Windows Components, and find WMP.

But I use Windows Media Player 10 because it does everything I want a media player to do - play music.

Right now I am using WMP, but I usually use Winamp.
And iTunes too, for the iPod.

Windows Media Player for small playlists, Winamp for everything.

Anything but MusicMatch! It always seems to freeze up on me.

Here's what I use:
Windows Media Player 10 (for watching anime and personal listening music)

Winamp (for radio broadcasting [which, btw, isn't working because I'm at school], and other listening purposes)
Somehow I still have an account...yay...?

I guess you tried the version 8, 9 or 10, right ?
Then, it's totally normal. They implemented so many useless features which takes lot of CPU ressources. The version 10 particularly is a huge shit!
It's a real shame, because the earlier versions are really good and work without any problem!

I use foobar2000 when using Windows. It doesn't consume as much resources as WMP or WinAmp. I have a tendency to have 10 or so programs running at once, so if the music player consumes as few resources as possible, all the better.
For video I use VLC or Mediaplayer Classic.

Yeah, but even with the earlier versions, I still went for WMP and Winamp. The only thing I would really use it for is converting between media files.

Damn all of you!! I will have to start brainwashing you in order to spread the word of JetAudio :D
Not a single person here uses it... Maybe that's because no one's really into using advanced formats like ape, ogg and others :D

Now close your eyes and imagine a peaceful world without iTunes, just beautiful JetAudios all around you :D
