Btw, just to throw this out, this is not to be confused with the GSLA awards, which is totally different than from the StratoForum awards. Now, onto my picks:

The Best:
Helloween - Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part III - The Legacy

The Good:
Stratovarius - Stratovarius

The Worst:
can't think of one right now! :D
Somehow I still have an account...yay...?

OK one from each:

Best: Kamelot (still one the best bands around)

Good: Gamma Ray - Majestic

Crap, rubbish, shouldn't have been done: Stratovarius - Stratovarius

what's the matter...?? Stratovarius - Stratovarius only "good" or "should not be"?

IMO Gamma Ray has covered any songs on the album (itself and other bands like Judas Priest -> listen the 4th track, sounds exactly like Metal Meltdown!).

Black Halo - very good!
octavarium - very good!

Chapter V: I agree, HF has worked better!

Because the new Stratovarius wasn´t perfect (Episode would have been that kind of perfect), but a good one that is for sure. :)

My vote for the rubbish or the worst category is Thunderstone - Tools of Destruction, that album started me to hate Thunderstone.:buh:

I haven't listened many albums which are made this year... But I still have listened some of them, and I like most of these two masterpieces:
Bruce Dickinson - A Tyranny of Souls :headbang:
Opeth - Ghost Reveries

I guess it's just a matter of taste.
I agree that Tool Of Destruction isn't perfect, but it has something really interesting.
Maybe many people just don't like it so much because it's not so "fast powermetal" (this album is more "rock", like Masterplan), because when Thunderstone released their first album, many people considered them like the new Stratovarius. Well, this new album proved that Thunderstone has
his own style.
Btw, they have an amazing singer, who sometimes sounds between Dio and Jorn Lande. And "I will come again" is a wonderful song, with a killing singing part!

I would have liked more the power-style Thunderstone and the new album was totally something different I´d have expected. Only Land of Innocence is a great song on the album btw. Now they sound though more their own but IMHO someway a cheap Dio-copy. I also don´t like some of their musicians too. There are enough better metal bands in Finland than TS.

Well, personally one reason why I like this album is because it's different but still good. You know, some bands can play the same music for 4 or 5 albums, and then, as a "fan" you think "why should I buy the new album, if it's exactly the same as the others". (Primal Fear or Sonta Arctica, for ex).

You don't like some of their musicians ? Which one(s) ?
Personally I hate their bass player, he is everything I hate in someone.
But the other musicians seem really ok. I heard their keyboard player is really nice, but perhaps really really shy.

But I have to admit Thunderstone isn't so good live. I dunno why, something's missing. Perhaps because they have only one guitar player on stage, perhaps because Pasi can't sing perfectly live. And another thing : it seems they have played in Tuska every year since 2001, and always in the small stages!

It has been a big year for music purchases and I liked everything that I picked up. so if I forget one I will post it later on. In fact everyone I thought was excellent except for 1, and that would be the one on the bottom of the list.

in no particular order, for me it was:
Primal Fear- Seven Seals
Yngwie Malmsteen- Unleash The Fury
Fear Factory- Transgression
Alice Cooper- Dirty Diamonds
Kamelot- The Black Halo
Hypocrisy- Virus
Bruce Dickinson- Tyrrany Of Souls
Iron Maiden- Death On The Road
Obituary- Frozen In Time
69 Eyes- Devils
Children Of Bodom- Are You Dead Yet
Royal Hunt- Paper Money
Testament- Live In London
Edguy- Superheroes ep
Judas Priest- Angel Of Retribution
Overkill- Relixiv
Leave's Eyes- Vinland Saga
HIM- Dark Light
Hammerfall- Chapter V
Exodus- Shovel-headed Kill Machine
BRONX CASKET COMPANY- Hellectric
Sentenced- Funeral Album ( a disapointment in my opinion, but still worth having)

Stratovarius is a perfect album!
But the new Helloween and Running Wild materials are worse than the older albums.
Nothing to say.

Ok folks here we go.
Lets vote for the best Metal album in the year 2005.
Sadly there were only 15 places for poll-options.
Anyway the vote runs until 1.1.2006.
