Winterheart's Guild - The Game

Post by Dave » Sat Jan 07, 2006 12:19 am

Alright, dudes. Some minutes ago I was browsing through my last.fm-Journals, and then I found some entry about Sonata Arctica..

Quote from the SA-forum:
Well look on the site for some basic info, but gameplay wise, think of DIABLO meets FALLOUT, with the music and characters of Sonata Arctica.
We have analysed each song, and gotten ideas and built an alternate world, one where Nuclear winter is a reality. There are various factions that exist in the world, both friend and foe.

Sonata Arctica will be providing feedback, ideas, in game voices and even new material. (in the form of a new song or two. In fact this might be one of the goals in the game, to unlock the new song - nice reward! Wink )

We are hoping to bring a rich and beautiful world to your PC soon.

We are also very aware of tie-ins or licenses that fail in many ways, but as fans of Sontata Arctica and game players ourselves, we feel that we are the ones to do justice to both fans and game players.

Our goal is to create an awesome game first, one that even non fans would be willing to play, and then making it extra special for fans...
This way we would introduce people who do not know of Sonata Arctica, to their wonderful music, and at the same time give existing fans an awesome experience.

Man.. that sounds great :P I've always loved RPGs and Sonata Arctica, so the mixture of both.. Hah. :D

Well, here's the website:

WTF?!? Well, I never play any RPGs (I only tried Morrowind, which came free with my video card :D, and I should say that it has awesome graphics, sound and environmental effects). Still, this should be interesting....... An RPG based on Sonata Arctica?!? Fuck, I can't get rid of my amazement/confusion.

I would prefer an old school graphic adventure though (in the style of the Monkey Island saga, the best saga ever :) ).

Wow. I never thought you'd say anything like that!

they've been talking about this for a while now... i have this memory of hearing about it a while ago.

i want to be more excited about this than i am... for some reason it kind of goes over my head and *somewhere vulgar having to do with hvyblah* i'm just not really a gamer :(

It's kind of like that thing a while ago-- Kamelot collaborating with a fantasy author (Harald Evers or whomever) who wanted to include them in his books or... was writing a series about them or whatever.

I've always loved RPG's, although i didn't test out NWN, Guild Wars and that stuff yet.. I'm more into those "classical" RPG's like Zelda, Golden Sun, Dragon Quest Monsters, old Final Fantasy and that stuff..

Yeah, read about this in the SA forum too.

I read that some characters will be based on band-members. But how would that work?

Would: Tony Kakko pull a note high enough to make your brain implode?

Jani shredd until your guts blow up?

well, thats an original idea, it could mean a hell of an advertisment campain for sonata, hell if 10% of the souless geeks who played tibia and those kinds of games played this... huge income gains! :D

Maybe some game including the stratoforum characters? Hvymtlbla with her endless masturbating power and htcdude with his lambdog protecting the empire? Sounds cool, indeed..

Cool, if the lambdog is not the protector but when it´s the evil dictator.

The family game console is the best! I can't remember the name of the best game ever... one about the olympics.

@ Hvyblah: Beware the CN tower. Yes it's nice, but after 5 minutes there's nothing more to do up there...

Boys with flowers in their hair suck. :P

Games do suck. They are a complete waste of time with no ultimate reward. However, they are a great thing to do after work and I love them. As I always say, everything in moderation.

A lot of people do take it too seriously though. And that sucks.

I bet, it will be for the newer versions of consoles... so we sucked it with our PS2. :?

I don't like heights at all... Vertigo is my kryptonite. However, I went up the CN tower and... well... nothing happened, EXCEPT for that fucking glass-floor!!! I really couldn't step on that! I tried putting one foot there, but it feels like you are just going to fall off the tower! Apart from that, height is not a big issue up there.

Yeah, you'll find out when you come here. I couldn't even look down, the vertigo was killing me... But that's just me. Just go to Yahoo and search for "cn tower glass floor" under Images. But I warn you, it's much worse when you are actually there because the pics don't give you an accurate idea of how high you really are.
