Yeah, but those are to be ignored. Since in the rules there would obviously be something about that, if someone posts on a forum without reading the rules they really can't complain.NordicStorm wrote:Yeah, 50 is fine by me.

come on, moderators! when you look at what's just happening in the English Stratovarius Community, you must admit it's obvious we need that limit again!

I don't think those moderators Jens mentioned once can really establish that post limit again... only him can do it I guess.
Now that the tour is over maybe he'll have some time to deal with all this mess... anyway, i don't think this is one of his priorities.

you are right, christiane. but I very much hope he will do so anyhow. You know they also abolished that guest option. So maybe they will help us with this, too, so that this forum becomes at least a bit like it was earlier.

And I miss some sticky topics too. Like "Introduce yourself" or "Forum rules" or "What is your favourite album?" etc.

Re: Should there be a POST LIMIT before creating new topics?
well you have thousands of "what is your favourite album"-topics, because many new users don't have the patience and the discipline to first search if such a topic already exists, and always create their own ones.

Well I think somebody (maybe a Moderator who calls incidental *Jens*...) should delete any silly topics as viewed 10 and replied 2... and stuff like "Hi" or "öääèöèöäüüéäèöäèèéàüüöàüäääöüéààpöü" should not exist no longer. Or am I the only one with this opinion?
And create a limit. 50 or maybe 100 posts should be enough to learn how the system works. Otherwise with such a limit, interesting topics as "Stratovarius live in Japan" from a user with 2 posts wouldn't exist. I suppose there has to be somebody who delete suddenly silly topics, that's it.

Re: Should there be a POST LIMIT before creating new topics?
We really don't need to delete a topic that’s been replied just twice... maybe it’s an interesting info that doesn’t necessarily need to be replied you know?
Besides, there’s a function for moving the threads when you post them in the wrong place... deleting topics only should be used when you post one that already exists, like the strato tour for example.
I think this is all about organization... instead of having several topics about Strato show in Malasia or Strato show in Komodo Island, we should be doing as we already tried: a fixed topic where you can post EVERYTHING related to the strato tours. Helloween board seems ok to me and the way they organized things - a fixed topic for the tours, divided by year, for example "Strato tour 2005", and there you can post pics, reviews and stuff... the topic will be fixed, so you won't need to look for it among several pages of pure trash.
Another good suggestion for newbies would be the fixed topic "introduce yourself here", where you could post your personal page, your personal band, your personal whatever, every info about you that you'd like to share, like country, age, etc etc.
Maybe things would work nice that way and we wouldn't have so many topics around.
ah, and main thing: every one of us should really read the rules about posting, and the post limit would help on that when it comes to newbies.
Read before posting, basic rule.

Well, good points but I still prefer the way used on Sonata-forum. We should learn from there a lot.

Re: Should there be a POST LIMIT before creating new topics?
But I think, that's the other side of the horse. I mean, if the mods are too strict, then you lose your freedom, or the felling of having it. Sometimes some desctruction preventers rush at others for opening a topic for a specific game, 'cos there's already a "game" topic.
Just think about it: if there's a popular game, which has hundreds of posts alone, then why should it be mixed together with the other games?
But it's true, that the flood of the newbies' posts is well prevented. But that could be solved by the 50-100 posts limit imho.

Strict mods makes the forum good, in my opinion.Beast_Pete wrote:But I think, that's the other side of the horse. Maybe that strictness should not though concern so much the Spam-area with its games etc. As everyone knows, the English Strato-discussion and the Other Discussion + Finnish sections needs the moderation or the cleaning the most.
