Robot registrations

Post by JensJohansson »

I guess someone found a way to either automatically decode that "verification code" image in phpbb's registration form...... or there are a lot of bored Russian kids out there .. who just use a script that fills in the fields .. and then decode it by eye .. and hit submit =)

Unless it's to generate links (for e.g. a higher google rank) I have no idea what the purpose is of this.. why so many people would be interested in having a long list of dormant phpbb accounts.. so I figured it would be better to try to stop it.

Hopefully I made it a bit more difficult now (using a "trick question").

Cheers,
Jens.

One of these day they will develop a registrator bot that is so complex it'll become self aware. And then we're all in trouble.

Anyway it was really good that you did something about it Jens! I hope there won't be so much "annoying" spammers anymore so that we normal spammers will continue our work here... :)

Indeed, BEG, you're right!

But if a Mod would have a little bit time to delete all the robotregistration-topics...???

Jens or the secret mods are already made quite a good job by deleting ´em. The most have disappeared. :)

Scwarzenegger will just have to come back in time and fix it!

But by that time he might already be dead. So someome using a modified DeLorean will have to go get him into the future first..

Nah...he is too busy at getting some extra belly pounds :D so, maybe Bill and Ted are the option :D

That's a good idea, tho a DeLorean is a cheap and already seen "vulgar display of power", so instead a DeLorean, what about a modified Stratovarius Touring Bus

I don't believe Russian kids are bored. I think it is the same person doing it. But they have not been back since Jens found out, probably, the secret. When he retires from music he should give Microsoft, Apple, or the US government a call. ;)

i think they refer "the sun" or a "ray of light" as "life". Listen when he say "I know there is still a day for me...Bring me life with your ray of light"

And the chorus is pretty much the same thing, asking for a ray of light, so, you can do what you want with the sea, the trees and whatever you want, but life (the rest of sun) belongs to him.
