Nylon is a bit more classical so I like

Steels, they work better with the pick, sound better (at least for me), are easier to play and give better responses to my playing style... I f***ing hate nylons!!! :x the sound is simply terrible!

I'm pretty sure that tolkki almost always uses nylon... Cuz it's not as much attack in the sound and it's a bit more"whip" if you can call it that..

In one or 2 songs he uses steel though

I guess it depends what you want from the sound. Personally, I prefer the sound of steel strings when playing chords and stuff like that. Nylon sounds better for melodies and arpeggios though.

It depends on what kind of music you play. I like them both, steel and nylon, but I gave my vote for steel.

I agree with you Bones...

Anyway, Now for me isn't hard play with steel strings because are easier than play the strings of a cello. (I said something very Stupid but that do a difference about the steel strings...I guess :? )

Yeah.... But I cant stand a cheap nylon with cheap strings... but I would like to have both...

And Nylon isnt that good for real rythm chord strumming

True, I put D'Addarios on my classical guitar, sweeter sound. (That doesn't mean I know how to play, I'm possibly the worst guitar player on this forum).

Nylon simply doesn't have the attack sustain and resonance that steel does.

Steel for a classical? Oh no, check you neck, without truss rod it can't deal with the tension, but I guess you could get lucky with .008-.036 strings or so. Also the bridge and the top of the guitar might start twisting. If you're lucky the guitar is ok but most likely not. :?

No no, I have nylon strings on my classical! I'd never put steel on it!

I've re-read my post and realised that I didn't exactly make it clear :D

I prefer nylon for melodies and arpeggios, but steel for chords and riffs. I have nylon strings on my guitar, since I use it mostly for melodies (even though I am an awful guitar player :D)

Oh ha ha, and I forgot d'Addario makes nylon strings too. Just didn't think you referred to quality when mentioning d'Addario as for me they make some crappy strings.

I like nylon more (bear in mind I never play my accoustic guitar though) since the sound is cleaner and more natural than steel, the arpeggios and scales sound a lot better to my tastes

I like to use both, even if it sounds different, it is nice though.

How about a 3-neck acoustic, with nylon, steel and steel 12 necks?

Might sound pretty weird with such a large sound plate but not necessarily bad eh?

I've played a 6-string acoustic with 3 nylon and 3 steel strigs; and personally I prefer the steel ones. They're easier to pick, and I prefer the sound they make.

I prefer nylon. More rounded, sweeter tone.

But it does depend what you're playing.

Depends on what kind of sound you are going for, I think each one has advantages.
