One major difference.

Can't we all get along? I listen to both regularly... (not so much rave/dance but more electronica/trance)

Right!

Anyways, nice topic, Dave. 8) And a funny comparison. But there's something missing: Metal drugs - especially alcohol, maybe dope, dunno... Techno drugs - ecstasy, heroin, lsd, speed, ...
Or something like that. :D

Well, I like some trance songs, too, also (but not often) house. But indeed, metal is the better music. I shit on those apparently sterile and sober rave parties and stick by our "down to earth"-bound metal. And those plastic and silicon girls... well... The pictures don't show, but I met a huge number of very good looking and sexy girls on metal concerts. I couldn't believe it when I was on a gig (Stratovarius in Oberhausen, december 2000), standing in first row next to some absolutely gorgeous girls, maybe aged something between 17 and 20. :D

Still, I WAAAAY more want to go to Wacken, even if it would rain every damn day I would be there, than some terrible rave party :D I do listen to Mortiis, Depeche Mode, ect... but that doesn't make me want to go to some crappy rave party... no way :D
And all that fancy light-, pyro-, girl-, and other stuff just tries to make up for the truth, that their music is poor, without-emotions made electrical crap :P someone told me once, that a right way to listen trance and tecno is under a "good" LSD trip... and that must be true, since I at least can't get anything out of the music and I have never tried LSD :D

sure we can, but some styles make you go blind sometimes, then you are closed to other styles.
But i agree with you, actually, we've talked before about electronic and it's variations :D , i like it too

Dishonest comparison!
Firstly, they compared only two examples, and this quantity is not enough to draw a conclusion, according to rules of statistics.
Moreover, these pictures showed only the dirtiest, ugliest and muddiest sides of rock festival and only the best and beautiful sides of rave one. Every medal has its reverse :P

You are never too young to rock! :D and if goth clothing tends to start from early age, all the better! :D

Allways! 8) But my point was, that these bands can be enjoyed without LSD or other that kind of head-mixer, but any Trance, House, Tecno...ect... you really can't... if you are not high on drugs

The best drug is endorphin, also known as "Hormone of happiness". It is secreted in organism while listening to favourite music and not only..
