Well, I have Full Metal Alchemist and Neon Genesis Evangelion in my computer, love both, but find Evangelion to be superior in character developement and story (if you count End of Evangelion, which I also have) but Full Metal is more fun.

Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X rocks all the way to the Christians saga, after that it just drags on a bit, though the OVA is a masterpiece

Gundam Wing is also one of my favorites (bet my avatar is some small indication to it )

and an honorable mention to Saint Seiya the first Anime I watched and fell in love with
Saint Seiya, Rurouni Kenshin, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Full Metal Alchemist are series I'd like to watch. does anybody know where I could find/download these series' episodes?

Finally watched Ghost in the Shell last night. Awsome animation, interesting story and I liked the themes of alienation and tackling what it means to be 'alive' and what the individual is.

I didn't feel there was much character development, however.

How long was it?

Since shorter anime have less window of opportunity to devlop the characters...

talking about Saint Seiya, i'm so suprised that it has been mentioned several times here. i still remember how i loved it when it was on TV 12 or 13 years ago. i didn't know it was popular in europe too, until i found bunch of fan sites in spanish and french and all kinds of languages i don't understand :P
Saint Seiya really means a lot to a whole generation in China. those who were born in late 70s and early 80s know this anime/manga by heart. every single one. i never met a chinese kid around 20 who never heard about it. it's a part of our childhood. amazing, isn't it?
i'm still going to some saint seiya fan sites now and then. still writing fan fic or doing fan art once a while. my fav is the Hades series, but i like other characters too, mostly those Sanctuary gold saints, shaka, saga, etc.
and i always want to go to Greece! XD

oh, btw, i do have all the TV series as rm/rmvb, but the language is japanese and the subtext is mandarin so i don't think that will help anyone...

True, it wasn't very long. Certainly not as long as Akira.

Also watched all 4 Macross Plus episodes recently, not as much action/blowing up stuff things, but much more character-based than the earlier Macross. The soundtrack was absolutely beautiful as well.

Watching all that anime has left me with a few words of Japanese, but something tells me it won't be enough :D

BUMP!
Argh, this was hard to find...

Anyway, anyone heard of Death Note? It's quite the mindblowing type of anime.
There are also 2 movies (with real actors) for it, but nothing beats the original, huh?

I've seen both movies.
And seen not 1 anime.
I'm kinda waiting for them to finish it up and dubbed it, so I can download it.
And you're right, it is mindblowing and fascinating.

The other day I watched Devil May Cry's first episode. Too early in the day to judge it.

Yup, like in the Playstation hit, Devil May Cry.
There are mangas and as I said, animé. I have episode 1.
I'll get the other as soon as they are dubbed.
