Photos from Montreal Gig posted (here)!!!!!

Ok well it took a few days before I had the time to actually go through them all... shit! out of almost 200 pictures, these are the best. The photos from Kamelot/ Epica the other day turned out really well, but these Strato ones are kind of disappointing. anyway, there are some decent ones in here i guess...

Follow this link to see all of them: http://www.sacredembrace.com/imagespubl ... o2006_ESE/

and here are a couple just for shit (yes, they're blurry on purpose! i like taking timelapse photos at shows :) )

you can tell this next one was taken during "forever'... with all those lighters being held up :P

Ok on a personal note, I actually teared up a little during "Forever" (some of you know i played that at my mother's funeral and for some reason it really struck a chord when they played it this time, though the first time i saw them it really didn't affect me. weird.)

woo!! my shamless self-promotion ends here! hehe...

I love Lauri's Rush shirt! I'm a huge Rush fan too, and I have the exact same shirt, only mine is white instead of black. Cool!

(In fact, it is Rush that inspired my username, because all of their albums after Power Windows are "brought to you" by a letter of some sort. The letter C. has yet to be used, and it is my first initial, obviously.)

The other pics are very nice too!

I love Rush too. Power Windows was brought to you by the letter M. I remember.

That's OK, everyone thinks that. I came up with that name in the Rush chat room many years ago and it always stuck.

Speaking of Rush (sorry for the off-topic), I'd like to get to know this band, so what album would you recommend? I've heard a lot good about Moving Pictures.

Moving Pictures is there most popular album, but not my favorite one. I suggest you to begin with Permanent Waves or 2112.

Oh no, now you've done it! I could talk Rush all day!

I'm listening to "Witch Hunt" right now, one of their best songs! (And no, to those of you who are new to either Strato or Rush, Strato's "Witch Hunt" is not a Rush cover! Two entirely different songs with the same name!)

For me, there's really no "bad" place to start your Rush journey. I guess it depends what style you like best. If you like the more progressive-type stuff, start with their earlier albums like 2112, Caress of Steel, or Farewell to Kings. If you like more of the snyth-driven, electronic-type rock, then start with some of their '80s albums like Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows, or Hold Your Fire. If you are into more straight-up rock, their '90s albums like Roll the Bones, Counterparts, or Test for Echo are not bad places to start.

However, I strongly do not recommend their "greatest hits" compilation albums. The reason for this being that it is normally Rush's former label (Mercury) that makes these compilations, and due to this, the songs on those albums only go up to about 1987, when their final album with Mercury was released (before they signed to Atlantic). So to me, you don't get the full spectrum of Rush's music because those compilation CDs always end at a certain point. They are also known as a band that "doesn't do b-sides" (bonus tracks), so when you buy these "greatest hits" things, you don't get anything new that you can't get off buying one of their actual CDs.

Rush is also notorious for being an excellent live band (which I back up wholeheartedly, having seen them live twice), so if you find you like this band, it will do you a great service to pick up any one of their live albums. It doesn't matter which, but Different Stages is my personal favorite. How a Rush fan can live without the live version of "Natural Science" boggles my mind. Image I also feel the new DVD/CD, R30, is a good starting point for a fan new to Rush, because it covers the band's history from the beginning to now. So if you know virtually nothing about them, this is a great place to start making your acquaintance.

If you have more questions or want to discuss this more, open up a Rush topic in the other forum so we don't piss off the nice people here that are coming in to look at Strato pics.

Rush is, for me too, a band I've always meant to investigate further. you've provided some food for thought :)

Don't feel too bad you know, people have probably nothing to say more about the Montreal gig anyway. Strato was here almost a month ago, so this topic will eventually disappear sooner or later, or else we should call this topic "Montreal fans". By the way is there an official Montreal Stratovarius fan club?

Agreed Browneyed, these pics are also fun for me to look at, seeing as how cameras aren't allowed at House of Blues and despite the fact that nearly everyone there had a picture phone, I have yet to see one person share their photos from that gig. :(

Grrr... :x

"the Lost Tolkki Interview"

Sounds mysterious--like an episode of Without a Trace, or something. :D
