Just when I'm about to leave the temperatures rise to near zero.

Enjoy the Salsa and the Lasagna! 8)

Wait a minute---does Carcass know they had an earthquake in Spain? ???

Em... Lasagne is an Italian dish... and Salsa is a South American thing if I remember correctly...

Sorry, just pointing that out.

Well, "salsa" referring to a particular kind of sauce is an expression used only in North America. In Spanish, salsa simply means "sauce" (any sauce). And of course, lasagna is an Italian dish! :)

Carcass, if you want to enjoy some famous Spanish food, go for the tapas, the ham and paella. :) Have fun!
Oh, and don't forget to watch Torrente while you are there... Just make sure you watch it in Castilian and not in Catalan! :D

Thanks everybody!

Just had a good night-sleep of 2 hours.

I already saw it, in Spanish. But that's some time ago, if I can find it on DVD with English (or Finnish) subtitles I think I will buy it. It's great, almost as great as that AWESOM-O episode!

Paella is delicious. I had one made in huge pan in an open fire, the one and only way to make it, I've heard.

They had an earthquake? I thought they didn't have any. :???:

See you all!

Well, Salsa is hot&delicious where ever its origins, and I know Lasagna is Italian, but its loved universally. :D

Have a nice flight, Carcass&don't be too apprehensive, its a short flight!
(He mentioned he was terrified of heights--thats why I said that) ;)

Oh, the earthquake was in the sea close to Spain--a 6.3. It was felt on land, but no damage or anything.

No worries. For some reason I feel very safe on planes. A lot safer then in amusement parks.

Ha, we seem to have the same problem... I don't have a problem with height per se, but I have a real problem with vertigo. That's why I can't stand amusement parks; 95% of all attractions have a vertigo element. I went to the CN Tower here in Toronto twice and I have no problem at all with it because it's very tall but I'm inside a building. However, standing on the border of a 3rd floor balcony would give me a lot of vertigo... You could say that vertigo is like my kryptonite. :D

So you just tell people to enjoy the Salsa and Lasagna regardless of where they go? I think that might catch on. Hey Bill, I'm going to Russia. Enjoy the salsa and lasagna!!

Haha I'm just giving you a hard time BEG. :D :poke: :umbrella:
Doesn't Russia have Salsa&Lasagna?
I'll ask Morgana.

Hi all!

I'm back. Once again I exposed myself to heights, voluntarily. I took a lift to one of the towers of Sagrada Familia and walked down narrow spiral stairs and crossed a little bridge from the tower to another.

But I survived. 8)

EDIT: Oh, and I found Torrente on DVD. :)

Sagrada Familia, in case you didn't know what it looks like:

That is beautiful!!!
How old is that building&what is it? ??? I mean, an old medieval castle, or church, or just a monument?
It is really tall--I mean, it stands high above&looms over the whole scenery there! :)

It's a very famous basilica created by the equally famous Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. Construction began in the second half of the 19th century, but I don't really know when the work was stopped (and I mean stopped, not finished). It's the most famous landmark in Barcelona.

I was so impressed by that building I immediately "Googled" some information about it. It is kind of Gothic-looking, very unusual&attractive because of its unique appearance! :) I like it.
It is a shame the constuction was not completed, but still it is a popular tourist attraction I gather. :)

They are still building it. I think it will be finished in 20 years or so. You can't see it in the picture, but there are cranes all over the place.

I saw it everyday, I lived in a flat in front of it. 8)

It's that bridge behind the tree that I crossed.

Barcelona is a treasure chest, it's full of crazy buildings. Gaudí's works makes me think of that Doctor Snuggles cartoon. Take a look at this one, Casa Batlló:

And the food.... I'm fortunate to be a person who doesn't get fat. Cured ham, sausages, pealla, gazpacho (a cold tomatoe soup), snails (they are good, believe me), roasted lamb with allioli (basically a mix of garlic and olive oil), all those slimy sea creatures.... :P

Never heard of them. Sounds more like a Dutch thing to me. :)

But I did try Valencian oranges. They should be eaten in a bathtub, they are so juicy that you can't believe it.

IMO juicy oranges are just great and one of the best ones come from Spain. And actually everything coming somewhere else than Morocco. Maroc oranges are just too sweety dry crap. Not "orange" at all!

Oh, those are great! They grow them in the uSA, and use them to make Orange Juice. And, also sell them fresh, of course. They are the more expensive ones. :)

I bought Maroc oranges from the marketplace the other day. They were OK. Today I bought some Jaffas, hope they are eatable.

Am I the only one who hates pips (correct word?) in oranges? They make me wanna throw the friggin' orange in the wall.

What a nice thread this has develodep into. :)

Yeah, a nice healthy topic. :D
Nobody can be banned discussing oranges! =P
But, actually my fav citrus is tangerines.
Are they from Tanger? Is that why they are called Tangerines? ???
Well, why do you think Oranges are called oranges? :D
And, is it true Grapefruts are called that because they grow in a cluster like grapes? ??? Has to be, because they don't look like grapes! :crazy2: :D

I don´t like pips or seeds whatever in oranges too. Specially there are them in the late season oranges (be sold in spring-time).
