What Do You think about Drugs ?

Hard drugs (i.e., cocaine, heroin, etc.) killed my best friend, who was a truly great metal vocalist and keyboardist. They have killed a lot of my friends. They are killing my younger brother and have also caused a lot of problems for my girlfriend, who is the love of my life.

Alcohol is indeed a drug, and no less deadly than heroin or coke- it just takes longer for it to kill you health wise. Weed is a milder drug but it too can cause a lot of problems and I can speak from experience on that as well.

I never took drugs anyway (... maybe one time, yes). I don't need it, nor do I need alcohol or cigarette... but Coffee, mmm...

Call me an alcoholic (assuming that alcohol counts), but I really enjoy having few pints with my friends.

As for other drugs, I wouldn't know. I've only smoked weed couple of times. Nice, but perhaps a bit overrated.

I think a drug can be defined as a substance which changes mood, or feeling, right?

I used to smoke Kools until I had a case of double pneumonia a couple years ago. If that does not persuade one to give up smoking, nothing will!
I've smoked pot a few times, and enjoyed it, but that was in my younger days and I don't plan to indulge in it again--mainly because its illegal!
As for hard drugs I've never been tempted. Some college aquaintances I knew dropped acid(LSD)and a couple never came back from their trips. As for cocaine&heroin, frankly, I never had the funds to support the habit. In that sense, its great to be poor. Although these days, in some areas, kids can score a few doses of crack for about $10.00. And in some rural communities, kids build their own Meth labs, which is a popular drug among young people these days. Meth is like speed in its "pure" form&is very dangerous.

So, I'll just stick to my Hershey's Kisses, Natural Ice&Maxwell House. At least they are legal anyway.

I smoke a bit (2 or three cigarettes a day), and really enjoy my coffee (could argue I was addicted if I didn't actually need it, just love it too damn much). And I drink with my friends but never more than once a week so not alcoholic either way.

Basically only for the pleasure of it, nothign else besides those though.

I think that all these problems are because drugs are illegals. I mean, if you're not allowed to do something which can be very exciting in your opinion, wouldn't it be more fun doing it even if there is a risk than not trying to do it at all?

I don't know if you have understood; I'll give an example.

A boy wants to try to smoke pot, but, as you all know, it's illegal. In my opinion, this increases his desire of trying, and then there will be the occasion to try it, and he will catch this opportunity. And, if he is a bit weak, he falls into the trap and starts to consume drugs.
I think that if it was legalized, he would have not tried it because it was quite a normal thing to do. Young guys often want to break the rules, it's natural. And have the ambition to try all the things that are prohibited, because it's exciting to do.

After that, I have to tell you a strange thing.

My mother smokes cigarettes. One day I told her that I wanted to try, and she gave me one of her cigarettes and I smoked. I like to smoke, but seldom; I'm not addict to cigarettes, and I think it's because my mom had not prohibited it to me.

Another thing I have to say... I took some puffs from a joint at a festival. I told it to my parents and they said nothing, because they think the same as me. Well, maybe I have to say that I took this way of thinking by them XD
My parents know also that the pot plant can be used in other ways beside the drug: it can be used to make cloths, medicines (the Romans cured themselves with pot -this is one thing that you will never read anywhere-), and even fuel!!!

The reason of this prohibitionism is a politic fact: politicians have the control over the drug traffic, and they gain a lot of money with that: if drugs were kegal, they would gain much less.

Unfortunately no! There are problems with politicians and population (as usual, politicians don't give a damn about that because they don't have all that rubbish in their gardens! but the rubbish problem hasn't come out only now... it's always been a problem in Napoli)

Talking about hard drugs, remember that politicians, many professional sportsmen and stars have always cocaine or similar stuff with them, even if they are illegal... and politicians become richer and richer because these drugs are illegals and they are the leaders of the traffic... (another thing that you will not read anywhere!). And sometimes they build up the puppet scene "Oh, we arrested 5 men who carried a total of 30 kg of cocaine and other drugs!" to persuade you that they are fighting against that.

drugs are not every substances that make you addicted to...so coffee is not a drug! chocolate is not a drug! neither alcohol.. dont know about cigarettes for sure though..!
