which era of stratovarius do you like better?

it's an age old question I'm sure but one I thought could be discussed
Do you prefer the earlier more riff driven days of the first three albums, the neo-classical sound of the albums in between, or the experimental sound of the more recent albums?

As for me it's very hard to make decisions like this, so I'll just say I like them all but for different reasons, however in the interest of fairness I will say Iisten to the 95-2003 era albums the most.

I think this is a very good topìc. I'm sure Jens and company are entering to the forum and reading the things we say about Stratovarius. They wanna continue togheter, so they must know what the fans wanna listen.

I prefer the neoclassical sound in the albums between. My fav albums:

1 - Episode
2 - Visions
3 - Fourth dimension
4 - Destiny
5 - Infinite

What can I say? I agree with RazielSR. The "middle period" of Stratovarius's musical resume(in my OPINION)was the best lyrically, musically, and everything. This is not saying the Tolkki-Era was bad, on the contrary Twilight Time&Dreamspace are very good albums with some extremely cool songs on them both. But, it seems the "flavor" of the music did not reach its full enhancement until Kotipelto added his unique voice to Stratovarius.
The last few albums were not bad, either, but I sensed a change somehow, and the last 3 albums were shifting in style to something different. Once again, not a "bad" change, but it wasn't the same as the "middle period"style, and I don't think it will ever be that way again.

I love Episode, Visions and Destiny but for me the best achievement overall was Elements pt1.

Mmm... Every moment has great songs, but... I prefer Visions and Episode (how original, he, he, he)... I think Strato was on the very top of its musical talent in that era... Destiny is a great album too, even Infinity has really cool songs... I don't like Elements at all: boring songs with no so much talent... The last one was cool for me, but not so much original...

In resume, I like them all, except the Elements and Fright Night (so much eighties influences in that one)

I absoutely love 1992-1997 era... from Twilight Time to Visions the band made their best albums IMO.

I mostly like the age from the albums "Fourth Dimension" to "Destiny"... In my opinion, these are their best albums, with a lot of great songs and boiling creativity!

I gotta say, I really did like the neo-classicism the best, and for some reason the hard-rock feel in Dreamspace was great for me. I'd say my favorite era, but covers a rather large time span and is most of Strato's time :/ I'll just say the Episode/Visions era was best.

I do agree that the neo-classical stuff was best, however I did like the early stuff and later stuff it's just that they didn't seem as catchy as the others

In all honesty, I loved all the Jari albums.
Although I feel like I'll end up liking Lauri more, Dreamspace-Stratovarius Self Titled ROCKED.

TT himself says that Stratovarius self-titled is awful, and i definitely disagree... It may not be their best album in years, but it ain't that bad, indeed... But the couple "Episode - Visions" is simply incredible!

Personally I thought it was a great experimental album, but then again I've also been a fan of progressive metal as well as power metal
