Since Tolkki recruited Kiske to sing on "New Era"

Which, seemed to me like an obvious attempt at generating hype for his new band before he ventured into new waters with RR, I think it's only fair for Jens and Co. to give Andi Deris a call and see if he'd be willing to help out a fellow Power Metal legend get back out of irrelevance and back into the spotlight.

I think it would be awesome for the band to get some well known Power Metal writers to help out though, and Andi Deris is a great one, plus it would make the album that much better.

What are the forum's thoughts on "Mercenary writers" helping on a few songs, just until new strato gets in a groove.

hype from one veiw, a interest in art and collaboration from a reaspected person that tolkki has worked with before in another veiw. to me its out of cronological order to say he had this planned since tolkki said he only decided to make it a full band after the recording process went well. he also said his prime motivation for kiske was that he enjoys kiske and his work. the last stratovaris album was more of one that could be a "fuck him or having true chemistry, but this will sell" kind of thing.

if they have some other writers how about tolkki that would be hilarius to see the letter and the reaction letter. the stuff that kotipelto and warmen have done is great stuff musicly. totman would give them a name and a spot in guitar hero and his melodies are catchy as hell. For some vocalist songwriters a tk tk combination from the two S bands of Finland would completely kick ass.

I think they should really just do what they do on their own and get a great guitarist that they can really bounce ideas off of. They have a whole band that guests on a lot projects and I’m sure they will take the time to arrange their songs well and put in instrumentation and vocals that complement each other.

Just imagine though, if the Stratovarius/RR debate extended to the Helloween fans in New Vs. Old, if they got Jani Liimitainen as the guitarist, and pulled Sonata Arctica in the fray, they could start a Power Metal war, and in that case, GOD HELP US ALL...

But like you said, Jens and TK have done a lot of stuff in other projects, so I figure that they're made a lot of friends, so maybe if they were having a bit of difficulty filling an entire solid album without filler, maybe use some of those connections to make this a truly amazing Power Metal album.

But yeah, I'm sure Tony Kakko would contribute if asked, I mean, Stratovarius has influenced a SHIT TON of bands, Jens did Sonata a favor in the past, and yeah, having Tony Kakko help write a song would be completely kick ass. I have no idea how the band's relation with Helloween is, it was just a funny thought because Tolkki grabbed Kiske for a bit.
I just think that this band hasn't been relevant since 2003, all this drama and the self titled album really pushed them out of the limelight, and with Tolkki gone, the critics that DO care will be VERY weary about giving the new band the benefit of the doubt, if the next album isn't a masterpiece of Power Metal, it will be easy to write it off as "No Tolkki, No Stratovarius, this new band is nothing special", they have to WOW the world with this next album.

And I just had a funny thought for the replacement guitarist, I wonder if Buckethead is interested.

Kai Hansen and Michael Weikath to play the guitars for the new Strato-album!
That would be too awesome for my ears to endure. 8)

If Jani Liimitainen was the guitarist that would kick so much ass. kakko is my favorite writer when he writes the neoclassical speed power metal songs. . I think this situation needs to be taken lightly and everyone needs to have some fun and good times with it. This band is supposed to rock and send some positive lyrics that are about issues and values. I would love it if they got Antti Ikonen and Tuomo Lassila to do some stuff with them. if they release something this year and made a double album release next year with the tolkki and AI TL stratovarius that would also be some awesome stuff.
from all the critic reveiws of rr that i have seen that has averaged in the high 80s low 90s and that album did not even have the imput it would have had if it was released with a stratovarius sound from the rest of the guys putting their touches to it. as long as the jj tk and such album is catchy and keeps the stratovarius elements of melodic skillful playing and meaningful lyrics they should not ahve to many problems. i ahve heard a lot of bands that have had skill but suck at catchy sing along anthems and epics so i hope they don't follow that path

@Rebel, what a cool idea! :bigok:

I'm totally 100% in that kind of opinion!!, absolutely, a big Power Metal head, to make a new fresh, "bomber" album.

+10 the idea

I love Deris, but Helloween shouldn't be involved in the StratoProblems.
Kiske claims he doesn't have anything to do with Helloween anymore (whereas he re-records his helloween songs, but that's another story), so let the pumpkin guys do their own stuff without having to take side for other bands.
But yes, I agree when you say that Kiske was a useful hype for RR.

now if they want to make an album were every song could be a knock hit they have plenty of examples in stratovarius own songs and other bands songs to get a feeling for what works and what would make good variations to it. That would also be cool to see a Sibelius inspired piece

Yes, also, have you heard Requiem from Intermission?, THAT would be a nice theme for a new song.

10-minute bass-solo-version of Finlandia.
Because, fuck Joey DeMaio and his Flight Of The Bumblebee. :P

Great stuff!
I didn't listen to the whole album, but from what I've heard, it's amazing.
