Forum för fårskallar (och andra)

Well this is .. exciting is the wrong word, but at least some people seem to be emotionally invested also in these tangled non-musical issues one way or another. I'm glad the majority seems to be greeting the news with a positive attitude and an open mind. None of this year has been easy for anyone, no easy choices in a way. But I am reasonably happy.

I'm posting this in this section in the hopes that the discussion is limited to the scope of the stratoforum order: A lot of times, and especially lately, I can't quite draw the line between "a post meant to be purely disruptive" and "a valued and welcome expression of an idea". Especially when some shit seems to fit both categories.

But, I was thinking ..... should I at some point bring back some sort of kill file type system? We had it here in the tforum days. I probably wouldn't reinstate the killfile-controlled posting limit idea, even though it was pretty clever.

Or maybe things will die back to normal in a few days. Donno ...

Either way KEEP PUNK ROCKIN!!

Your faithful servant,

/Jenssi (who in addition to being a very lazy and hands-off moderator here also happens to play in the band named ex-KILLING AN ARAB)

The regular killfile system works great(like in Kotipelto Forum), but the old killfile system here had one flaw: the way it worked people would take their personal hate for someone&use it against them--to the point they would register under seveal usernames to killfile someone from posting. How immature can you get. Then, people began to use it just for amusement, killfiling someone just for laughs.
:D

Hehe, for years I have suggested to re-introduce a minimum post number which any member has to reach before being able of opening topics. ;-) Dunno wether this is something you meant, too, but after it was "abolished" the number of sensless topics increased rapidly. In times like after the "scandals" a huge number of new members signed up and flooded the forum with their spammy topics. So might be something to think about.... 8)

Anyways, thx for giving us attention and potential influence. :)

Depends... how sever will it be? Cuz one where a moderator (not necesarrily Jensus, but since he is the one "Mod" around...) gets a message whenever certain strings are used then *s*he may decide whether the post is significant or just plain trolling.

I've never liked filters... automatic filters are just plain stupid/evil...

Some filters are annoying, but the comic potential is limitless. I sometimes post on another forum where 'lol' is filtered out as 'I am a faggoth' and forumite's names are also filtered.

You should get an additional mod or two. This place is quite small to be honest, easily moderated by one fan, who is here 24/7. Not to mention that you mod the forum as well, so... wouldn't be too hard. I could easily name some guys who would be perfect choices, but I don't know wether they really would like to become moderators or not and wether they have enough free time.

Killfile has the potential problems that BEG already pointed out. Of course different "versions" might be better. But not perfect enough.

Yeah but the Stratoforum wouldn't be the same if it wasn't ruled by Jens' iron fist :D
