Stratovarius US tour dates announced

Post by JensJohansson » Wed Feb 11, 2009 12:53 am

Stratovarius will return to North America for a short tour this fall. They will also take part in a once-in-a-lifetime pre-concert meet-and-greet which will take place prior to doors opening. With a purchase of the VIP ticket, you gain access to the venue at least one hour early for the meet-and-greet.

This is available for all shows and will be on sale until all VIP tickets are sold out (limited to 100 per night). You can purchase these VIP tickets at EnterTheVault.com; you will then be automatically registered to win four tickets to a show of your choice between May 27 and December 31, 2009. Each city will have one winner and they will be notified via e-mail on May 19.

Tickets for all shows are on sale via http://EnterTheVault.com exclusively until March 20 at which point they will become available through all normal ticketing outlets.

This is awesome, though I may have to travel across two states to see them as I'm located in southern utah, it's alright though cause it would definatly be worth it.

Since the VIP tickets in Seattle costs 2.6 times the normal ticket, I will probably go just go to 2 concerts and have a nice trip to Vancouver. That will be really cool for the people that get the VIP though. Although if 100 people do buy the tickets, how much quality of meet and greet can they have in 60 minutes?

I just hope that into eternity is not on the tour. I don't know how, but they manage to be on every European metal bands tour that hits Seattle. Being in the front row at those little club concerts is awesome. Hopefully I can get a second drumstick this time. I had such amazing time at that concert. It was really fun to follow the fingers of the guitar work for the solos.

Double Edit: ticketbastard isn't releasing the tickets until 3/20 :?

So how is the meet and greet structured?
With 5 members of the band, 100 ticket holders, and 1 hour, I wonder how much time and oppertunity VIP will have to meet and greet the band at a conversation level.

I wonder if it will be like a convention where the audience sits down and the band answers questions

Probably not, those "Q&A" type things are more useful for press meetings. I think how it's done will depend on the venue size.

A 1hr meet-and-greet with 100 guests is not a problem.

The concept is something new for the past year or so, and with the state of the music business at the moment, you will see more of it.

According to people who have already done this in the US (like Nightwish and CoB) it's quite nice. And (to my surprise) it seems everybody says fans in general love it. I wouldn't personally pay a dime extra to hang out with a bunch of musicians, but maybe that's because I have been doing exactly that for 20 years...

Well, this is most excellent news! Wow, the Nokia on Times Square. That's awesome for sure. Congrats. Do you know yet about support bands? Guess it's a bit premature.

I was so far up front, I got to shake hands with some of the members in the middle of one of the songs Very Happy I also remember Lauri played one hell of a bass-solo...
Never been to that venue. I might be out there again during that time. I keep jumping coasts. Ever been to El Corazón? Interesting policy page on their web:

Rules We Live By
NO Assholes
NO Attitudes
NO Racists, Homophobes, or Elitists
NO Drugs
NO Outside Alcohol
NO Stage diving
NO Graffiti
NO Fighting You throw - You go
NO sharp spikes
NO colors/letters

Can they tell I'm an asshole just by looking at me? Hope not.

What were you thinking? Everyone knows Florida is a metal dead zone. Jersey is the hot spot. You better move back.

WOW! Seven months away! As unpredictable as life is, I'm almost afraid of making a reservation that far in advance. ???
I think I'll just stick to the CDs&Videos, and leave the concerts to you youngsters.... knowing my luck I'll fall and break a leg the day before the show! :D

That's funny....I was leaving work early one day a couple years ago to go see Apocalyptica for the first time. I was soooo excited. I had a bunch of things in my hands and while going down the stairs, caught the tip of my shoe in my other pant leg and fell down the stairs! I got up, went out to my husband's waiting car, and went directly to the emergency room instead of the concert. Yup, I broke my arm!

I did finally get to see Apocalyptica this last year...coincidently at the same venue in Boston that Statovarius will be playing at in September!!

I bought tickets. (an anniversary present for my husband) I want to support the group and their tour. If I can't make it I know someone will want them.

I didn't buy VIP ticket though. I'm too shy. It wouldn't be worth my while. (I usually hang back and watch or silently get autographs. I'm always too chicken to ask for pictures. I only have one of me with anybody. It's with Tony from Sonata Arctica and I'm making a horrible face in it because....he has his arm around me and he's SQUEEZING MY BROKEN ARM!!) I can take the $$$ I save and buy new Statovarius CDs. :) And in the past I was disappointed by Strat meet & greets that were promised but never happened but I'm sure it's different now; the dynamics of the band are different and it's a paid obligation not a complimentry nicety.

I've already begun my plans for a road trip to the Cleveland Show, but I really wish you would have done a show in Detroit.

El Corazon is a bit bigger than studio 7. Out of the Seattle venues that I’ve been to so far, showbox sodo had the clearest sound. Both el Corazon and studio 7 let you get right up in the front row while the showbox venues have one of those blockades with bouncers on the other side. el corazon is sort of above studio 7 and below the showboxes in capacity.

i found a concert review of nightwish where the band decided to stay for 2 hours and meet and greet. the reviewer said everyone loved it and how the fans were treated. now if only we could get a 3 hour setlist. course if im going that far might as well wish for a acoustic set or a set where they play through their albums like manowar did at magic circle 2
