I am not sure of that. Antti for example (the huge guy with incredible voice, also singer in Celesty... really nice guy, btw) was born in Helsinki, and Celesty is from Seinäjoki.

On the other hand, try to find a dozen of amazing singers in such a small town like Lappajärvi. You'll have the same chance than finding a sober Finn in Helsinki during week-ends ;)

Congratulations Timo's choir!!!

Fantastic news! Congratulations to Timo and Lappajärvi. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy and it's awesome to see a little town beat out the big cities. Obviously, it will be good for Stratovarius as well. Way to go, Timo and the Lappajävi choir! :headbang:

Are there videos on line of the last performances?

I didn't have the opportunity to watch or vote, but I have no doubt in my mind that TK did what it took to win this thing! Congratulations! More power to the metal!

Nope, that would result in just another crappy Pro7Entertainment-Show
nah, don't be that bad with Tobi... he only needs to glue his mouth to the microphone so his voice can be heard...

It's not about Sammet, it's about the channel that would probably air a show like that

So what? Just seeing Tobias Sammet on that show would be worth it! Do you remember McDonalds Chart show from 2004?

Can we get Anders Friden in the Swedish version? XD
The Gothenburg choir would probably dominate. In more ways than one.

Maybe they can do another american version and I'll go on and show them how metal is done seeing as how the USA is obsessed with pop bands right now

I remember Andreas Türk. He always tried to make the crowd belive that he and the band were best friends and that he is such a big Edguy fan.

Or the female one:
"...ihre neue Single "Lavratory Love Machine", was frei übersetzt so viel wie "Vögeln auf der Waschmachine" heißt...."
"Und hier sind EDGUYS!"

And two girls in the choir are Russian, they just happen to study at Lappajärvi. As well as some are from the neighbor rural districts of Lappajärvi.

Also, one guy from Marion's choir stated that he's born in the Middle-Finland but he still sang in the Helsinki choir. I guess the other choirs also had singers from somewhere else than the city/town they were told to be from.

It's not about where you're born, but what you represent.

Both Finnish and English Wikipedia says he is from Vaasa?

Seinäjoki, Lappajärvi, Vaasa ... to me it would all be close enough if they have some sort of connection to this small area of western Pohjanmaa.

But of course to make it completely kosher the whole choir should have been born on the bottom of lake Lappajärvi

probably about as obscure as my birth town, I was originally born in Vernal, Utah and it probably only has about a few thousand people.

Man this victory must be tough for all the attention starved former Stratovarius guitar players. Can't hurt your cd sales if it's a big tv-show. You'll all be rich famous and beautiful.

Haha or a Brazilian version with Andre Matos!

We do have several Idol-like shows here (or at least we used to have, last time I checked), and nothing comes even the smalled tad close to metal or hard rock, so I guess Andre Matos wouldn't be a popular choice.

Well, pitting Hamburg against Karlsruhe might be an interesting German version of the choir contest. And then Fulda could be thrown into the mix for Tobias. Unfortunately I don't think Biloxi would fit that format, so Matt will have to wait for another US round.

Maybe we could also Throw Kai in there? The 3 voices of Helloween fighting against each other in a battle of the choirs. That would be epix.

A rock singer winning a tv show like that in Brazil would be in guiness book, for sure. The probablibity for a sertanejo (country) singer, or a pagode singer or even one of the million funk huge-ass girls winning is bigger. It´d be cool to see Andreas Kisser or Matos winning one of these shows....or even Falaschi. =)

But we don't have a show like that here in Brazil, only Idolos (Idols) that really sucks here :D
