Maybe because he's not getting pushed anymore to sing those extremely high notes and he can sing now more relaxed?

I totally agree. It is one of the first impressions I had while listening to Polaris for the first time. You know, he has improved a lot his low tones and now is more versatile. I'm really happy about that, now we can hear his uncomparable high tones mixed with another ranges.
