i think it's Full Moon...
I like it, but everytime I hear it I keep saying to myself: this sounds tooo strange to be Stratovarius

Angels will cry
and the moon will disappear
the sun slowly dies
we'll be fading to the dark, so I fear...

Re: Strangest song by Stratovarius?
I voted for "030366." Really very odd but I love it.
I don't know if any of the guys are Queensryche fans, but did Tolkki get any inspiration for that song from them? It is quite similar to "Screaming In Digital" from Rage For Order with it's odd time changes, use of synths, and gothic sound. The arrangements are similar right down to the stop before the guitar solo. The way that Tate and Kotipelto sing the verses is similar and the subject matter is pretty much the same.
I know that Tolkki visits here often. I would love to hear the comments from the author himself if he reads this.

This is probably the only Stratovarius song I don't like. I just can't stand it.phoenix666 wrote:030366 is really a weird song...

Yeah, i think it has many similar things that Screaming In Digital has, but i think "Screaming" is much better song though. But yeah, very similar song i think.Maddest Hatter wrote:I voted for "030366." Really very odd but I love it.

Full Moon. And here I don't mean strange in a good way.
It's not similar, it's the same song. Thus, can song really be called strange, if two different song-writers from different continents have made it?Maddest Hatter wrote:I voted for "030366." Really very odd but I love it.

Re: Strangest song by Stratovarius?
Mine would be "When Mountains Fall" from Polaris. I was like "What?!? They really got off their genre of music here".
In second place, it would be "The Land Of Ice And Snow". Same thing as "When Mountains Fall".

So what about Forever? It would fall in the same category then those 2. And I don't really get why. They're all ballads. They are for the most part acoustic. What is strange about them?Lebon14 wrote:Mine would be "When Mountains Fall" from Polaris. I was like "What?!? They really got off their genre of music here".

I don't think that's the kind of ballad a metal would do... that's why.Ragehead91 wrote:What is strange about them?

Re: Strangest song by Stratovarius?
Okay, you have a point there. Most Metal Band tend to to Power Ballads if they do a ballad. Acoustic are really pretty rare. But still, why didn't you mention Forever too? Same Category.Lebon14 wrote:I don't think that's the kind of ballad a metal would do... that's why.Ragehead91 wrote:What is strange about them?

I dream to hear The Land Of Ice And Snow and When Mountains Fall live!

Re: Strangest song by Stratovarius?
This is interesting! When I first listened to Stratovarius, the song I felt was 'strangest' or 'wierdest' was Season Of Change, but now it has grown on me and become one of my all time favourite Strato songs. But then I heard 030366, and I have to say that is one of them. Full Moon is weird mostly because of the music in it, 2 minutes on (especially the solo).

Re: Strangest song by Stratovarius?
Just out of curiosity, where can I find this "Full Moon" track that the rest of you are speaking of. I own all 12 Strato albums from Fright Night through Polaris plus the Intermission CD of rareties and I've never heard of it. Is it a b-side? Japanese bonus track? Anyone have a torrent that I can download?
