I'm not talking about the song. I'm talking about the "good/bad song" thing. For us (or most of us) a song can be better as another song.icecab21 wrote:Well I am not aware of many sports teams playing the other songs to create the adrenaline rush that the teams get from final countdown.

Re: Europe
I think my thoughts on songs being better in different ways is what I was referring to. Throw up 50 different categories and I don't think a song will beat another song in every category. If someone is looking for a song under 60 BPM, a song over 60 BPM won’t rank higher in that category than a song under 60 BPM.

HEY!!! I opened a thread about Europe here! No need to argue and discuss opinions here. Let's just talk about Europe!!!

Re: Europe
I love it, this shows more of europe's talent, I think too many times they get branded as one of those "hair bands"
The outfits in the 80's probably didn't help much but Europe has a lot of material that puts them more in the Power metal genre then the "glam metal" genre

Re: Europe
Exactly. And I really like this new direction. Last Look At Eden sounds really cool!hiro23 wrote:I love it, this shows more of europe's talent, I think too many times they get branded as one of those "hair bands"

Re: Europe
Europe got a new single? must check it though...
I also like Europe, was so happy they returned, though with a soso-album start from the dark. the next one, secret society, was by far better - some great songs like mothers son etc...
also great and still very into of the 80es greatest hits, record-breaking album final countdown!
to see them live is just a must!
btw, i tried to find out why they split up in earlier 90ies: i'm not sure, but their success broke them apart? too young for such a success, was it that or has someone more proper news?

Re: Europe
decline of the popularity of Metal? Rise of Grunge and Alternative? At least this is the reason why lots of bands either split up or went on hiatus around this time.
Re: Europe
well, Grunge actually was the reason why metal became less popular in the 90ies, but it cant be the only reason though

Re: Europe
For a lot of bands it was.
Re: Europe
Well actually from what I read it was many reasons, 1.They were tied in with Glam metal and unfortunetly when Glam metal died they sort of took Europe with it(which sucks in my opinion because despite their appearance I never considered Europe a Glam metal band)
2.Many of the bands founding members believed that they were going too far away from the groups initial sound and were getting too commercial
3.Many of the members were just getting sick and tired of the whole thing and they all wanted a break from it all.
So in essence I agree with them being a little too young at the time, one thing their recent albums have shown us is that with time and a little wisdom you can appreciate what you do a whole lot better.

Re: Europe
Last two albums from Europe are horrible. I hope that "Last look at Eden" is better.
Re: Europe
Well the new album is realeased a few days ago. And I must say I think it's better than Start From The Dark and Secret Society.
It's a really cool album that I can recommend to everyone that loved the older works of the band!

Re: Europe
I would check it out, although I'm bad at listening to anything else except The Final Countdown, the only album that's familiar to me and I actually own from them. I think it's a great, cheesy 80s awesomeness. I also like the song The Final Countdown, although Carrie, Ninja and Cherokee are very great too. I cannot say what's so cool about this record though. It's just the only one I've really looked into. The music is not a problem - I love this kind of stuff. Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister, early W.A.S.P., Bon Jovi
... You name it!

Re: Europe
I used to like them but the last 3 albums are just boooring besides the titlesong "Last look at Eden", good song.. But the other is just too much blues for me. John Norum always wants to play blues...
Re: Europe
I just love some of the songs so far. New love in town is my favorite on the album so far.
