Kamelot Singer talks about Lable Situation and SPV

KAMELOT Frontman Addresses Band's Label Situation - July 23, 2009
American/Norwegian melodic metallers KAMELOT have commented on their label situation following recent reports that the band's former record company, SPV (Schallplatten Produktion und Vertrieb GmbH) submitted an application on May 25 to commence insolvency proceedings— roughly equivalent to Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

"We have met with SPV in Hamburg recently and I know they are trying hard to rebound from their insolvency," states singer Roy Khan. "We had already terminated our deal months ago with them, even before the insolvency. Since then we have been approached by many labels to release the next KAMELOT album, including two major labels. We have some great offers and now we just have to decide on the right partners for our next step."

KAMELOT is currently in recording mode at various studios — including the Gate Studio in Wolfsburg, Germany — under the watchful eye of Sascha Paeth and Miro as producers. A February/March 2010 release is being planned for the band's highly anticipated follow-up to their biggest-selling record to date, "Ghost Opera".

"The new songs are really inspiring," states guitarist Thomas Youngblood. "We feel the long touring and time away from writing has been perfect for new ideas and an aggressive approach to the new songs."

Youngblood and KAMELOT singer Roy Khan will take part in a press conference at the Wacken Open Air festival on Saturday, August 1 in Wacken, Germany. The guys will also hold a meet-and-greet with some of the fans while attending the event.

So it seems that SPV lost a band.
