AKK WYLDE To OZZY: 'Man Up And Give Me A Phone Call And Tell Me What The Hell's Going On' - July 30, 2009
On Wednesday, July 29, Carl Sundberg from Eugene, Oregon's 101.5 KFLY radio station conducted a phone interview with Zakk Wylde (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OZZY OSBOURNE). When asked about his status in Ozzy's band and recent reports that Osbourne was auditioning other guitarists for his solo group, Zakk said, "I've gotta be honest with you. The boss [Ozzy] hasn't even given me a phone call, so I mean... I'm just like... I don't know what's going on over there. Are we doing this thing or are we not doing it? When I keep getting asked these questions, I go, 'Call the boss. When he tells you, then he can call me back.' I mean, it's just like... I love you, man. Whatever you want, that's cool. But if we're doing this, let's do it, and let's whoop some ass. But if you don't wanna do it, then just give me a heads-up. Call me, man. Tell me what the hell's going on. I don't know what the hell's going on over there. We're working on the new record, we'll be back in September, we'll work on finishing the record. And then we're supposed to do the tour. I mean, it's like, dude, you don't wanna play with me anymore? Fine. Play with whoever the hell you wanna play with. I couldn't give a rat's ass. Like I'm gonna get all jealous or whatever. But you know what?! Man up and give me a phone call and tell me what the hell's going on. You finished with me? Cool. I mean, it's just like... Everything's sounding like BLACK LABEL? [Referring to Ozzy's claim in a recent interview that his solo albums were beginning to sound like BLACK LABEL SOCIETY due to Wylde's involvement with both projects — Ed.] I guess everything sounded like BLACK LABEL when I first started with you, when I was 19. It was still the same guy; I don't know what you're talking about."

Zakk's rambling response — including a 30-second, expletive-filled rant directed at Ozzy (which wasn't transcribed above due to extensive bleeping) — is available for download as an MP3 audio file at this location.

Wooooooow, ...
Through the storms we've wandered
Many mountains we have climbed
But all the bad times are behind

Isn't it funny how he went from "Everything is fine! He is family! I love you dad!" to " "*beelp* *bleep* Ozzy *bleep* *bleep* *bleep*"

What a weird story. I'm glad the Ozzy camp seems ready to pick up some of the soap opera drama slack that we in Stratovarius all but have abandoned of late.

I'm still wondering what will happen with Firewind. I love that band..

I don't think anything is official yet, but that's how the rumors go at least, that he's somehow involved with the Ozzy camp. And I somehow doubt that Ozzy would consider hiring him as a make-up artist, bartender or drum roadie..

ZAKK WYLDE To OZZY: 'If You're Gonna Can My Ass, Say It To My Face' - July 31, 2009
Paul Marshall, afternoon radio personality and program director for 98.9 The Rock in Kansas City, Missouri, conducted an interview with Zakk Wylde (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OZZY OSBOURNE) earlier this week. An excerpt from the chat follows below.

Q: I need a statement from you. What is going on with all the rumors and all the crap with the Boss [referring to Ozzy — Ed.].

Zakk: "I really have no idea. 'Cause I call up and go, 'What's going on here?' I was just like, 'That ain't cool, dude.' I go, 'If you're gonna can my ass, say it to my face. Don't be doing this shit behind my back; that ain't cool.'"

Q: So there was a tense moment there with you and the Boss?

Zakk: "I have no idea. I guess we're supposed to hook up in August and do this goddamn show [at the BlizzCon convention in Anaheim, California]."

Q: The last time they tried this was "Down The Earth", and that record [wasn't that great], so I'm guessing if Zakk's not involved, it's not a good Ozzy record.

Zakk: "I have no idea. I'm just like... You could play with anybody you want. Put it this way... It's like my wife... You can be with any guy you wanna be with. But you know what?! If you're gonna be banging a guy in our bed, at least let me watch so I can enjoy it. Let me in on the skinny... what's going on here. That's just not... I don't give a [bleep] what anyone says, it ain't [bleep]ing cool. It's like, hey, you know what?! You're just [bleep]ing on me in a back [bleep]ing alley right now and [I'll] rip your [bleep]ing head off if you're gonna pull this shit. We'll [bleep]ing find out."

This is fun.

First Ozzy falls out with the other Black Sabbath guys, now he falls out with Zakk...

Ah, the soap opera of metal.

But Ozzy might actually has a good reason for kicking Zakk. If you lust got out of rehab and sober I don't think you would want a guy like Zakk around you who liked getting drunk. Still no reason for not telling him what's going on but at least a good reason,

Here's the thing though, regardless of Zakk's faults he's got a point in the fact that if Ozzy doesn't want to use him anymore he should at least be man enough to call and tell him that he's out.

Plus I wouldn't exactly call Ozzy's recent behavior rational, sueing Black Sabbath one moment and possibly kicking out his long time guitarist the next, seems Ozzy doesn't care about long time friendships from what it looks like.

I fully agree with you and I never said that you're wrong. Of Course Zakk got a point. It is really not fair and not the thing to do to kick someone but not telling him and wait until he finds out by reading Heavy Metal Webzines or getting E-Mails by a friend or fans and find it out this way. I also think Ozzy seems to act rather strangely since a few months. I'm just saying that the reason for Ozzy fireing Zakk might be that Ozzy has really become sober now and that it wouldn't be the best idea to have a guy around you who obviously likes to get drunk (listen to the interview. You can't tell me he was mundane while doing it). That doesn't change that Zakk has a point, but it would at least be a good reason to kick him.

Very true and I also agree with you, however one of the first things he should have done was discussed things with Zakk first, I mean something could have been worked out, however it just seems lately that when Ozzy has an idea in his head he just acts on it without thinking of the consequences.

Ozzy .. and management :) .. do some really greedy and spiteful things sometimes. It's almost legendary. Here is a link that describes the Daisley/Kerslake backing track replacement fiasco ..

http://jonrowe.blogspot.com/2005/07/ozzy-v.html

I would say whoever wrote that is quite insightful in general. I also happen to think the then-band had a lot to do with how great "Blizzard of Ozz" was. I do agree with the blog writer that Ozzy .. and management ahem .. really have some sort of knack for picking good musicians. Maybe Gus will get to bring in his Greek gang, maybe Bob will be there on keyboards etc and it will turn into some sort of shreddy Ozzy-wind .. who knows.

Didn't they also take "The Ultimate Sin" out of print because they couldn't clarify the songwriting credits of the song "Shot in the Dark"?

I know the official reason is stated as being that Ozzy doesn't really like that album. However I think that's poor reasoning for taking an album off the shelves, just because you may not like it doesn't mean your fan base isn't going to.

Helloween members don't like the Chameleon album but they never pulled that from the shelves.

I also disagree with Destruction not recognize the 1998 Album as part of the official Discography.

I would keep the albums on the selves, I would remove the selves, but I would keep the albums on them.
