Re: Just Kotipelto !!
He is easily one of the most recognizable voices in metal altogether. He has hit some insanely high notes, and just has a beautiful voice in the end. His very gifted talent + his unique voice really make him an individual in the metal world. One of my favorite vocalists of all time.
Re: Just Kotipelto !!
I have to confess that If I was to make a classment, I'd put him only second. Third there would be Hansi Kursch, second: TK. But first: the alien voice, the singing from somewhere else: the master: Roy Khan.
Those three guys are the best voices ever!!!!

Timo's voice is just simply awesome.

TK truly is one of the best singers out there.
Especially technically as there are singers with more emotion in their voices but technically TK ranks really high.

Re: Just Kotipelto !!
He is simply the best and his voice incomparable. The only thing is that I was a bit disappointed with his vocals in Polaris. He just can do it a lot better. In Polaris was as if he didn't want to run too many risks.

Re: Just Kotipelto !!
I don't think Kotipelto has sounded amazing in a Strato album since Destiny.
But he always sounds incredible in his solo stuff, and he certainly sounds amazing in Cain's Offering.
I just don't get why he can't sound as good in the Strato albums anymore.

Maestro
Agreed. Kotipelto is the best of them all. One of the most recogniseable metal voices of all time also.
Someone knows a link to that mags page/article?

Re: Just Kotipelto !!
Well, I think he has always sung amazing in every single album, but let's say Polaris is a bit weak in this aspect. I don't really know why since he can do anything he wants with his voice as we can see in the last performances, so it is not about the current state of his voice. It is perfectly in shape. And I agree with you, he sounds amazing in Cain's Offering. I don't really like that album, but that's a different story.Star_Ocean wrote:I don't think Kotipelto has sounded amazing in a Strato album since Destiny.

He is the best voice for me too.
I know it's not the "best" (you know...you can't compare his versatility with Russell Allen or others) but his texture and tone are just amazing.
But IMO he should sing as he knows, when he tries to make different and (let's say) "strange" things, he sounds forced, cause he is not very versatile.

Re: Just Kotipelto !!
This is exactly what I've tried to say here! Now it should be clear to everyone. Relaxed vocals, period. However, in Stratovarius, he's still regarded to sing high and loud, and there are limits for an older singer for that.RazielSR wrote:But IMO he should sing as he knows, when he tries to make different and (let's say) "strange" things, he sounds forced, cause he is not very versatile.
For me Kotipelto isn't the best voice. However, one of the best. It's really hard to say who's the best because there are a huge amount of very good guys in metal/rock, the first ones to come to my mind are Hansi Kürsch, Michael Kiske, Freddie Mercury, Glenn Hughes, David Coverdale, Jorn Lande, Bruce Dickinson, Ronnie James BIOJÄTEASTIA, Nils Patrik Johansson, Klaus Meine, Rob Halford, Steven Tyler, Sebastian Bach, Tom S. Englund, Geoff Tate, Pasi Rantanen, Marco Hietala, James LaBrie, Rob Rock, Jon Bon Jovi, Brad Delp, Robert Plant, Oliver Hartman, Russell Allen yadayadayada.

Re: Just Kotipelto !!
If I'd speak English much better, I'd surely explain it, but as English is only my second language, the most I can say, that there's something in his voice that some call awesome, but annoys me.Arkash wrote:Explain why!I hate Roy Khan as a singer.
Re: Just Kotipelto !!
Oh come on....... In power metal music the name Kotipelto has to be remember...... I'm not here to compare him with anyone.... I'm here to say that his voice is unique... Just that.... Only to say that...

Kotipelto has a beautiful voice, he's one of my fave singers too!
I think he sang better on Fourth Dimension & Destiny albuns, but I love the way he sang on Polaris too!

I also enjoy his voice in many Stratoalbums
This is damn good vid! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MEUfCDmkEU
Must be one of his best performances of this song! Whole band plays damn well!

Re: Just Kotipelto !!
Actually that's one of TK's worst performances of Paradise... The chorus sounds very weak.
Listen to the Visions of Europe version. That one is much, much better.

Re: Just Kotipelto !!
The best -filmed- Stratovarius live performance ever is RMJ 04 imo.

Re: Just Kotipelto !!
Yeah well that's true. But at least he hits the notes. Very often he just sings out of tune and doesn't reach the notes in the chorus at all.rikkertje wrote:Actually that's one of TK's worst performances of Paradise... The chorus sounds very weak.

Editedit: Read wrong. Well RMJ04 was very good but I don't know if the best

Re: Just Kotipelto !!
Surprising. They should have had the chemistry problems back then. But you never know if it was a good day or something. Of course a band in the verge of breaking might also have great moments. Like a relationship.Keyssion wrote:Yeah well that's true. But at least he hits the notes. I think the best Paradise I've heard is where there supposedly was no electricity. I don't remember the year, venue, country, anything, but I saw it via this forum on YouTube. That was some strong and secure singing.
I should watch those RMJ clips sometime. Visions of Europe is good, but I think I have always seen them being as good as in that album. They were on fire in Lappeenranta between the big Netherlands show and some Wacken! I thought they came to test things or something, kinda have a break between two big shows, but they were very great!
Kotipelto had those out-of-balance days too, but I think he's now more secure live singer than ever before. Not necessarily as high as in his best, but secure.

Re: Just Kotipelto !!
That's it exactly - thanks! ^^ Yeh, the lack of electricity doesn't matter because it was an acoustic gig in the first place (was it?). But that's just huge! @_@ So strong! And he god damn sits!Drvanger wrote:Maybe this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiMyrkiImcAI think the best Paradise I've heard is where there supposedly was no electricity. True. That was a fantastic performance. And you can see Tolkki and Kotipelto as a good friends. And now you see the current situacion...what a pity, seriously.icecab21 wrote:i think that was was where the electricty went out literly. the two of them are electric though
