it's almost as if it's done on principle because one feels they have to hate one to like the other.

I could be wrong here so don't quote me on this.

In my opinion I thought they were both great albums, different but great albums.
I didn't really like either of them, but I give the nod to AoA for Tolkki at least trying something different from his norm.

On Polaris, however, most of the songs just sound atypical of Stratovarius or Kotipelto songs. There were very little risks taken in Polaris. But then again, I guess you can't deviate too much from the typical formula when the future of the band really depended on the album. While it might have been a smart move to not take any risks, it doesn't really make the album any better.

I still say the best two songs on Polaris are Deep Unknown and Second Sight, the two least "Stratovarius" songs on the album.

Kind of true. Of course, not everyone think the same way; I personally loved more "Polaris" than "Age Of Aquarius", beign a fan of Strato definitelly :D. But, don't misunderstand me, like Ragehead91 said, if the change of course made by Tolkki redifines the power metal he used to play, I prefer the classic stereotype we have of power metal; don't get me wrong, I think what Tolkki did was great, but not as catchy as Strato always do and had done with "Polaris"

I get what you mean, I also agree, Polaris was definitely more of the Power metal we've come to know which I like.

However in AOA's case it was much more progressive, not bad but different then what we are used to hearing from Tolkki, it's an album you have to listen to without thinking of his previous works.

Awesome bass player, but I pretty much lost interest in RR after listening to AoA, I thought the singer was awful and the songs were rather boring.

I'm glad Stratovarius was only mentioned once, usually when they give these interviews it tends to be a slam fest on the former band.

I also like it when Jens gives interviews, he usually has nothing but good things to say about the future and even past happenings.

This is definitely one of the better interviews

I think I'll be listening any Tolkki metal that'll come out in the future, whether I like it or not. His past music for me is of most importance, and you never know when he'll hit the bullseye again. If he's going to. And I didn't like AoA that much. It wasn't bad, it had content, but most of it was pretty uninteresting. I'm a bit of an oddball since I actually liked Ixion's Wheel a lot but never got So She Wears Black and Sins of My Beloved for example.

I like the interview, but there are some parts where you can read really ironic words like "Stratovarius was a sick band". Really ironic and twisted. Anyway, I don't want to go there. I prefer to get the best of the interview.
And it's nice to see Timo making interviews about his band. Interviews where, at least, you can feel where is all heading. I will support always Tolkki too. I'm really curious about what are we gonna have in the next RR album. AoA was ok to me, and there are some songs wich I like a lot, anyway I don't see it as a top 3 TimoTolkki album, I see it as the 3 worst albums from him.

In your emotion scale, is AoA in top 3 albums by TimoTolkki?

Just asking.

Yes, but I don't think he really thinks that AoA is top 3 in his career. Cmon...
But I suppose it's cool for him to say it like this right now.

Truth be told I did like Polaris better, it's more what I expected and wanted.

However I get the reason why Tolkki did AOA, it was an attempt to do something new and I do applaud him for that, I'm hoping the next RR album will combine some of the progressive elements the last album had however have songs with the sort of catchiness that many of his tunes in the past have had.

Hiro, don't you think that calling AoA "progressive" is too much :) .

AoA was beatiful in a sad way.
Not everyone likes those emotional endings of movies for example.
They just go to see the movie to see the action.
AoA is like a movie without the action.

I truly liked it's beauty I truly enjoyed it's emotions and I truly hope the next album will continue where Into The Future ended for the next one should be more about hope and joy or I will start slicing my wrists.

AoA was worth making but I can't see an Age of Aquarius II.

I hope TT will ipress me again next year and I'm already waiting for more RR.

Yet another thing I am waiting for is some new strato.
I hope the guys will have time to bring us something new again.

I think Kyrie Eleison is one of the best songs TT has done in his entire career.

I also expect this album as been a some kind of "interlude". Let's face it, people, it's TT: He had done almost all the song of Strato we find wonderful and magical, masterpieces after masterpieces. Hope next album to be "different" but in a good way; I can give RR another chance :)

Yeah I also think it as an interlude.
For it would be awesome if they would continue from the hopeful sounds of Into The Future and as AoA was a dark phase having light in the end the next one could be happier more positive.

But whatever TT does he hasn't disappointed me yet.
Not even once.
