Actually, if most of us delve deeply into our family trees/bloodlines we all have 2 or 3 different races in our genes. I am proud that I am about 1/16 Native American on my Mother's side, for example. Not too many Americans are 100% WASP! :D

It's the term "race" that is not appropriate, there is no such things as race, or at least, just one: human being, all the rest is just skin colour or origin...

I definitly agree with Carcass, you are just born somewhere and that's it, end of the line...

So this whole debate is just pointless... well, by now, we are getting used to Miditek's pointelss, middle-aged debates...

Yes, Race is important as far as bloodlines go. For God's sake, race is not a dirty word. Its identity. I mean, its not the focus of our existence, but its part of everyone. When it becomes alittle warped is when people think their own race is better, ie: more intelligent, chosen by God, etc. Thats when fanatics arise, and the race issue becomes repugant to some. Your race is a part of you. Period. And, agreed, all races are equal, part of the human race as a whole, of course. But, there are races. Each race has its different characteristics and this fact does not make one less than the other. As the saying goes, we must learn to embrace our differences, even be proud of them--for that is what makes us who we are!!!

Precisely. There are fanatics in all races, as well as ethnic groups, and religions, etc. We happen to live in a rather fragmented world, unfortunately.

I can even recall Clinton publicly condemning the rapper "Sista Souljah" for calling on blacks to kill whitey. I must admit that I was rather surprised with his condemnation of her.

As for myself, my background is German on my father's side, and primarily Irish with a bit of Cherokee on my mother's.
