So, I ran away and came to a forum where admins don't kill your post for random things.

The idea is to post a pic with you SA collection. This includes CD's, DVD's, Flags, Posters, LP's, etc. and describe it :D

So here it goes:

My SA collection is not big enough for a pic. I'm not really a fan. Just listen to them sometimes. I've got Unia and The Days of Grays 2cd digipack.

I actually like Unia more than anything else they ever did. I downloaded all their albums because I didn't enjoy them enough to pay money for it.
When I heard bits and pieces from Unia on YouTube I liked it straight away and bought the album. I bought TDoG because I liked their music since Unia so I hoped that it would stay in that direction. And it did. :)

The only song I don't like from TDoG is Flag in The Ground.

Me too. But those are the best, really. Oh I have the Japanese version of Songs of Silence also, got a good deal on that one :)

I had Winterheart's Guild too but I think I left it behind when I moved back from the States. I could never really get into their stuff after that one... I think Ecliptica was just too damn good, so it's difficult for bands to follow up to such a strong debut album.

Complaining about live Setlist... GOSH IS HORRIBLE!! D:

Post by HinatAArcticA » Mon Apr 05, 2010 7:38 am

So, I see nobody posting pics, but well, lets discuss this other thing here, because there's no point on making a new topic just for this xD...
I usually go to setlist.fm to check the setlists that Sonata is playing, and the most recent is, I think, the most HORRIBLE, setlist ever...
I won't post this on the SA forum because they'll ban me for 4 months or something like that... so, here's the setlist:

- Flag In The Ground
- The Last Amazing Grays
- Paid in Full
- As If The World Wasn't Ending
- FullMoon
- Juliet
- Deathaura
- Broken
- The Dead Skin
- The Cage

Encore:
- In Black and White
- Don't Say A Word
- Vodka (Hava Nagila)
- Everything Fades To Gray

Ok... first of all and to start, I'll say that
I LOVE DEATHAURA TO DEATH!!!
I'm really SOO happy that they are playing it... but as for the rest of the setlist... allow me, I'll kill it xD.... and just keep in mind that this is just my opinion.

Flag In The Ground: It's ok for an opener... I miss Misplaced though, and Deasthaura would work better.

The Last Amazing Grays: Um... ok, 2 songs from the new album, and this one is cool. Like when they used to play Blinded no more, Paid in Full, and now this one... cool.

Paid in Full: Well they used to play it in the UNIA tour, but... I don't know, is not even that good.

As If The World Wasn't Ending: Well I like this one too, but so far only songs from UNIA and TDOG...

FullMoon: I'm sorry... I'm SICK of this song... it's allways there... ALLWAYS! they've been playing it for 11 years now....... seriously, I'm just tired of it.

Juliet: ... why?... ok, is not a bad song but we all know they have many that are far better... and still, that's another one for TDOG..

Deathaura: MORE TDOG?!... ok, but this one doesn't count. It kiks soooooo much ass.

Broken: Well, now I really know this setlist is totally broken... why broken?.. what ever happened to Shamadalie... what ever happened to Shy?!

The Dead Skin: ... wait.. seriously... MORE TDOG?..... this is what?... half the setlit is the nrw album?... and the half of the other half are UNIA songs?...... w...why?!

The Cage: GOOD thanks!.. finally something that is not UNIA or TDOG...

Encore:
In Black and White: Am... ok, I do love this one
Don't Say A Word: This one is perfect there xD

So... overall... I don't like it
There are 6 songs from TDOG!
They have 6 albums and they choose 6 songs from the new one? ... I think it's just too much, and I'm not counting the Intro/Outro, so that would be 7.
I mean, is not that bad... but imagine if strato changed "Speed of Light" for "Emmancipation Suite"... I mean, is not that bad but you are like... ":? Am... ok?"

Now, you might be wondering "So, what's your setlist?"

- Intro (Everything Fades to Gray)
- Deathaura
- The Last Amazing Grays
- My Land
- Flag in the Ground
- Shamandalie (Or Shy)
- Sing in Silence
- The Harvest (Or Misplaced)
- Blank File
- In Black and White

Encore:
- Don't Say a Word
- Wolf & Raven
- Vodka (Hava Nagila)
- Outro

Now, tell me if that's not:
+ Balanced
+ Fun
+ Interesting

So... why 6 TDOG songs? why?!
No need to feel so afraid, colors last a lifetime and fade to gray...

No blank File or My land!
Shamandalie would be almost ok but shy and sing in silence You are OUT
And Wolf and Raven they don't want to play so we are basically back with the original which is fine for me. Only As if the World Wasn't ending could be replaced.
And might I remind you that they are recording the live album right now.

Don't complain, it's good when the band play half of it's new album. Wolf and Raven you will hear 1000 times in your live and Juliet you may never.
Especially now, when TDOG comparing to their early CDs is a good one.
IHMO I would prefer listening to Deep Unknown, Falling Star, Winter Skies, King of Nothing, Emancipation Suite and Forever is Today instead of Speed of Light, Phoenix, Eagleheart and Kiss of Judas, but I understand that this is due to 2-year break in gigs.

Well, it's true that maybe Juliet would be abbandoned after this tour. And from that point of view, then I think the setlist is a bit better. I still would like more of the few old songs.

Damn, I'm open to those Dog songs but I'd prefer to not hear that same set two nights in a row :( That's like a set to play at a coffee shop or something. N. America missed the Winterheart's tour so it'd be cool for them to play some of those songs of that album...eh, whining here is kinda pointless though

Generally speaking, 6 songs from a new album is a good thing.
TDOG sucked, so I'd prefer one or no songs from it, but the point of a tour is to promote a new album. I think Strato made a mistake only playing 3 songs from Polaris, and as much as I love Twilight Symphony and Destiny, I would have advocated to replace those with the Emancipation Suite and King of Nothing.

Porcupine Tree is playing almost their entire new album on tours, which consists of at least half their show. that's a GOOD thing.

Also 8th Commandment is out after YEARS in the setlist.
So is Black Sheep.
I like that but, so should FullMoon I think. Then replace it with something from WG or Silence.

Come to think about it, and after reading some of you, I'm not angry about them playing new stuff, but to be playing the same old ones.
