Exactly, labelling is pointless. Power metal would be very different today if it weren't for him, and I don't mean that in a 'heavy-metal-would-be-different-if-it-weren't-for-Zeppelin' way.
2. He's pretty boring
While a lot of material he's put out does seem to go in circles sometimes, there's an awful lot of great stuff he's created and some of my all time favourite tracks are Malmsteen ones. And I don't even play guitar. But whatever floats your boat, etc.
3. He's one of the worst human beings in music.
Really? You've hung out with him and carried out questionable financial arrangements on his behalf and therefore are in a position to make that statement?

Tolkki & Hansen. It's very difficult to choose between them...

Yes but the man and his music are two different things. When I listen to a Yngwie song which, in my opinion, kicks ass, I don't think "oh this guy is an asshole, skip this song".

Hitler's watercolours sucked. There's a reason he didn't follow a career in art.

André Olbrich for me.
I like his distinct and creative style, which has been a massive influence on me as well. :)

If I put Malmsteen on the list, I'd have to put Blackmore on the list.
And if I put Blackmore on the list it wouldn't be fair to anyone else but Blackmore.

With that, I can also state why Walter Giardino isn't in this list too. He's the best guitarrist in all Latin America in my opinion

I can say without a second thought that Blackmore wipes the floor with anyone on this list. He's responsible for the whole neo-classical craze of the 80s, as well as some of the sickest guitar solos in Deep Purple and Rainbow.

Then we'd better make another poll including all the dudes we all consider to be the best guitarrist ever... With that, the poll will go eternal :?
