I just saw the setlist from the gig in Sweden, the last jun 12. I mean...is the same set list 7 years ago...c'mon. It's really time for change the songs, there are so many, look at this:
Hunting High and Low
Speed of Light
The Kiss of Judas
Deep Unknown
Phoenix
Winter Skies
A Million Light Years Away
Forever
Visions (Southern Cross)
Eagleheart
S.O.S.
Paradise
Black Diamond
So many classics, so few songs from polaris, the best f***ing record of 2009...it's lame.
I'm sorry for this, but this are facts

Re: Don't get me wrong,but...
agreed 100%.
Setlist should be something like this.
1. Blind
2. Eagleheart
3. The Kiss of Judas
4. A Million Light Years Away
5. Speed of Light
6. King of Nothing
7. Instrumental Duel
8. Foreveer is Today
9. Night Time Eclipse (Personal favorite, you could probably cut this if you had to)
10. Phoenix
11. SOS
12. Deep Unknown
13. Distant Skies
14. Legions
15. Winter Skies
16. The Land of Ice and Snow
--- Encore
17. Father Time
18. Black Diamond
Running Time 87 minutes+Instrumental duel. 79 if you cut Nighttime Eclipse
It mixes the heavy and slow songs, with an emphasis on the heavier (That makes for a better live show) and it intermingles the Polaris songs with the classic hits (With the KoN/Lauri-Matias Duel/Forever Is Today run to emphasize what the new band has to offer). But most importantly, it features 5 songs from Polaris.
for a 40 minute festival setlist
Deep Unknown
Speed of Light
Phoenix
Forever is Today
Distant Skies
Legions
Eagleheart
Black Diamond

Oh c'mon, you know exactly what i was saying. Indeed Iron Maiden played the whole last album entirely and sold every ticket, in their current tour theres 12 songs from their last 4 albums, and they did not played RUN TO THE HILLS!!!icecab21 wrote:the same set list 7 years agopretty crazy that they played those songs seven years ago.Deep Unknown

Re: Don't get me wrong,but...
Would love to hear; Against The Wind, Tomorrow, The Land Of Ice And Snow, Hold On To Your Dream, Anthem Of The World...
Re: Don't get me wrong,but...
They should just forget about concerts in front of groups and focus on customized private concerts where they play whatever the individual wants them to play.
Re: Don't get me wrong,but...
Last Saturday I saw the band and the show was absolutely fabulous! Setlist was this but without Visions and it was perfect. Pyrotechnics worked fine!Verdades Parias wrote:

Re: Don't get me wrong,but...
Except for "Hold On To Your Dream" which I've read there was in some setlist even when Tolkki was still in the band. But that's something really true; it's a pity that "Fright Night", "Twilight Time" and "Dreamspace" are soo underrated that they don't even play a single song of them live. I personally don't like "Fright Night" that much though, but it would come as a total surprise I think to everyone if they out of the blue start playing "Break The Ice" or "Future Shock"...or maybe "Thin Ice" ; who can imagine such a terrifying song live? It'd scare the shit out of me if they perform it!adrian9 wrote:...specially the fist 3 albums that are pretty ignored and there is a LOT of great songs there...

They should practice the whole discography and choose songs randomly to every gig!

Re: Don't get me wrong,but...
the problem is that Stratovarius has had such a revolving door of a lineup, you could put together 3 lineups, without any overlapping members, the current lineup had nothing to do with the first 3 albums so it would basically be like playing covers.

Re: Don't get me wrong,but...
When I think of this band, all I think of are the songs from Episode, Visions, Elements...that's the songs I first heard of. It's hard to think of them sounding like "Fright Night" because I never liked those cds honestly. Honest Abe. Opinions are like assholes.....everybody's got one!! Baha!!

Re: Don't get me wrong,but...
they are already playing songs that no one in the band has writing credits for.
3 lineups without any overlap? the band has only had two drummers in the lineup unless we count the stunt stuff and count anders as a former band member or sami for session work

I say: Be patient.
New album is coming and new songs shold be played.
Also, what about songs from the first 3 albums?
I say I want a Fright Night/Twilight Time/Dreamspace tour!

For me is a nice set list, but I would love to hear another different songs too, principally some old songs like We hold the key & Galaxies.........Verdades Parias wrote:I just saw the setlist from the gig in Sweden, the last jun 12. I think that 2 songs from Polaris on a festival show is optimal. It's far from their best albums even if it quite good. I'd rather have more rare-played old songs.Verdades Parias wrote:I just saw the setlist from the gig in Sweden, the last jun 12. I mean...is the same set list 7 years ago...c'mon. Re: Don't get me wrong,but...
Well, Polaris album tour is almost over and they are already making new album, so i think they will leave like 1 song from Polaris to the setlist. It seems like the new album includes gooood stuff, so maybe they will play 4-5 songs from that on the future tour?
It's difficult to ditch songs like Black Diamond and Hunting high and Low because those are classics, and people want to hear them when they go to see a Stratovarius gig. But songs like A Million Lightyears Away and Eagleheart for example could be replaced if you ask me.
I really hope they will play some rare Episode songs on the next tour (Eternity, Uncertainty, Season Of Change or Night Time Eclipse) because Episode has its 15 year birthday on 2011
