Matias on Young Guitar!

Here musicians can talk to each other about making music etc. Of course if you are not a musician you are still welcomed to this board, but the topics should somehow be about making music.

Engl amps definitely rock. And Matias' guitar is awesome too, custom Ruokongas job, that has a lot to do with the sound...

yeah, but what kind of effects would he be using... or just reverb and drive?

ggonza, Young Guitar (some Japanese magazine) does videos just like this with all sorts of guitarists...
... or maybe this link has been posted before.

anyways...

It sounds like a small bit of reverb and I can't really tell what he has on his rack there. Whether it is a power conditioner or sonic maximizer or what. The video quality actually sounds a bit fuzzed anyways.(HD won't work for me) It sounds like he has his neck pickups on. High quality pickups can change your tone of course and the type of wood your guitar uses.
(like mahogany or maple) Because cheap guitars usually use basswood or alder that sucks pretty bad to get a really good tone. But you probably know this already right???

Yeah dude man, even the steve vai signature guitars that cost over 1,000 bucks have an alder or basswood body.

Rip offs!! :x

Well, maybe back in the day they were made with different wood but now they are made with alder and cost that amount just because of the name on it. Rip offs!!! Reminds me of the alexi esp model. Isn't the difference between the cheap model and the expensive ones just different tuners?
Goddamn bastards ripping off the musicians who don't read the details!

Petrucci's guitars are made of Chinese ancient oak.

Me too :O !
But playing the guitar is like a medicine, so I can't let my guitar for a long...
Oh, by the way, I'd like to introduce myself to you, I'm new, here :D.
Hum... What to say...
I'm from France, so I hope my English is good enough to talk with you :). If you want to know a bit about me, I love listening to music, I love drawing and playing the guitar, too. While I'm talking about music and guitar, I have a "Guitar Hero", if I can call him like that. Like you can suspect it, I'm talking about Matias Kupiainen. For me, he's a model of respect, talking about music, of course.
Moreover, I play it from two years and a half, now :).
I love Finland and its culture, especially Metal music which is from, despite I don't know enough Finnish Metal bands, but I hope I will, someday !
I hope I don't bother with my life ! :D

I met Matias' little brother a few weeks back actually. :)

He came up to me because i had a Stratoshirt on and he had one also our conersation was short and sweet:

Him:Hey nice shirt!
Me: Hehe, thanks. Yours is too. (We actually happened to have the same shirt on....)
Him: Going to see the upcoming Strato-gig? (The 21:st of august one)
Me: Nah, i don't have money at the moment.
Him:Oh okay, well i've gotta run.

Okay this is the part where we start walking away and than alarm clocks started ringing in my head, you see. I didn't actually recognize him at first sight but than i remembered him because he used to play in my friends band. :D
