James Labrie - Static impulse

Post by RazielSR » Thu Nov 11, 2010 12:55 pm

James Labrie is a fantastic composer, not just a fantastic singer. Elements of Persuasion was a really good album.
And this new one, was at the beginning strange to me cause the growling vocals annoyed me a bite. But now, I can't stop listening to this album. There are some songs with growling combined with melodic vocals by James. When I listened to this album for the first times, I liked more the songs where no growling appear. Now it's the contrary. I really love songs like One more time, THIS IS WAR, WHO YOU THINK I AM, Mislead, Jekyll or hyde...

The album is more or less: modern melodic+prog+some death metal. Special attention too the solos by Marco Sfogli and the drums by Wildoer. A lot of keyboard work too by Matt Guillory.

I reccomend this album, I'm really into it while I'm waiting for Elysium.
I will listen to this, plus new Yngwe album and Darkest hours EP.

Yes, this album rules. Perfect compositions and amazing music. I think JLB should compose a lot more in DT.

And the band had a tour but it was canceled due visas problems....

Hey Everyone,
Yes it's unfortunately true. We ran into a big snag with immigration and work visas so at this point we had no option but to cancel. This is a big blow to all of us in the band. I feel sick about this. We have such an incredible band and there was nothing more we wanted to do than play this for the fans. It's not good no matter how u look at this. I am deeply sorry and will do all I can to make this up to you on e we figure it out.
Peace,
James.
Marco is Italian
Wildoer is Swedish
Bassists is French I think

Without the word metalcore, I'd check it out right now.

Well it is not like this. It is just some parts where you can find in one song I think some metalcore influence, but anyway, I think it is not the right word.

The growling is not by Labrie, it is by Wildoer.

I sort of already guessed that, since James' vocal chords were ruptured and whatnot. Non the less a very good album.

Woah! Sorry to be the first to tell this, but that doesn't sounds like James at all. But I don't know, I think I've listening to him way too much time with DT that's hard for me think of him singing to this kind of music. I still need to give this record a chance, but so far I'm finding it hard to assimilate :?
