Rebel intro on guitar

Here musicians can talk to each other about making music etc. Of course if you are not a musician you are still welcomed to this board, but the topics should somehow be about making music.

Rebel intro on guitar

Post by Tarhaea » Tue Jan 11, 2011 9:23 am

Ive been trying to nail that famous intro riff of Rebel song which is very fast but only on one string and therefore should be easy. I just can't play it fast enough. Im trying to play it by up-down strumming and i got problems with the timing of my picking. Are these the right tabs anyways?

Any advice for adding up the speed and still playing it cleanly?

I have practised it loads already. :)

Just that it seems the edge is when i start up-down strumming. Am i right when im saying that the riff isn't playable by just down strumming? I mean, will the speed of retail version be unreachable that way?
Because i can nail many faster riffs by just down strumming for example chorus of Downfall by CoB.

Hi. :)
Maybe you are not used to using your pinky finger? (if you're using it)
It's a very basic riff. (being on one string)
Maybe you haven't practiced scales much? Try playing it without the open string at first maybe? Try lowering your string height from the fretboard?
Good luck!

P.S.
Try this out!!

it is the right tab, you can use a metronome to get you ear used to the ckick a get your timing tight.
also practice your pull of so every note gets clear (your pick hand is fundamental into this)
