Won't you mean "cochleas" =P? Nah, it's just the chorus, or now you're gonna tell me you can't help singing it when you listen to it :)?

^ if one doesn't like slower and "grave" songs, I can understand such a point of view.

But I don't appreciate it :D

Don't want to know what he'd have written if he'd have listened to Last Shore, or Hollowed.

I agree with the blackwind review, the album really grows on you despite me thinking it was a bit mediocre at first. Except The Game Never Ends, I hate that song :x

I dont agree with all the people saying doing an extreme long metal song is dangerous.
You find some masterpieces of lenght (I'm talking here of songs longer than 10 minutes):

Mago de Oz - Atlantia: This song is one of Mago's greatest and one of the best I've ever heard in a long time.

Moonsorrow. They did an album with two great songs both half an hour.

Rhapsody - The mystic prophecy of the demonknight. - I dont like the lyrics, but hell, the music is just pure magic! Like all the other epilogue songs of Rhapso

Blind Guardian - And then there was silence. Enough said.

And most of times, 10 minutes songs are masterpieces too:

Ensiferum - The Longest Journey. (This song is definitly among the two or three best songs I've ever heard).
Kamelot - Elizabeth. (This song is too).
Wintersun - Sadness and Hate.
Strato - Destiny, Infinity, Emancipation, Soul of a Vagabond..
Gamma Ray - Rebellion in Dreamland, Insurection...
Hammerfall - Knights of the 21th century.
Helloween - The dark ride, Halloween, Keeper...
Iced Earth - A question of heaven.
Arcturus - Shipwrecked Pioneer Frontier.
Bathory - One road to Asa Bay.
...

And thousands more!!!

About Elysium, I still need some time!
Through the storms we've wandered
Many mountains we have climbed
But all the bad times are behind
The road is free - I'm coming home

The Angrymetalguy.com review is mine and don't get me wrong, I love Stratovarius. I just didn't think Elysium was consistently good. A few songs just didn't do it for me (The Game Never Ends, Move the Mountain) and some were decent but not exceptional (Fairness Justified, Lifetime in a Moment). The title track grew on me but is too long.

That said, I have been listening to the rest quite a bit and there are several great songs.

I got different thoughts on what makes a song good than a lot of these reviews so it's a bit irrelevant. reviews on how metal a album is, rather than how well the music is composed and performed ,are not my thing.

Reviews are personal opinions about a specific subject. It doesn't necessarely mean it has to reflect everybody's opinions, although sometimes that happens. As you think in a certain way, I have the right to think in a different way, and we are both totally right. The onl thing that you need to know is a little about music

If you wrote that review without having a single idea of what were you talking about, then I feel sad

Yes, we all have our opinions on music and what is or isn't good. I personally have been listening to metal since 1982 so I have a fairly good grasp of the genre. That said, no review speaks for all tastes and I can only give my own impressions of an album and Elysium to me was not consistently strong despite a few great songs.

Then it's fine by me. Just one thing: Try not to expect registering in a forum of a band after having done a review of their latest work, and everybody to understand you. I know you just came in to clarify what you've written and it's OK, but as you have your opinion we have ours, and you need to get ready for people that may agree with you and others (which I think it's the biggest percentage) that may not

Honestly I don't even pay attention to the reviewers.... and believe me I have read alot of them in the Stratovarius discography. I remember back when Infinite and Elements came out all the reviews were xclaiming that the band had " BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT", and that " THEY ARE RECYCLING THE STRATOVARIUS SOUND"....then the black album came out and the band presented something different and controversial and all the reviewers were saying " SELLOUT"......" RETURN TO POWER METAL"....."STRATOVARIUS IS DEAD " and so on and so forth. The point I am getting at is this.......

They have such a vast discography and such an evolution of their music that and mark my words...... THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PLEASE EVERY FANS TASTES!

I am on this forum alot and there are some fans like me who are exclaiming "MASTERPIECE", " THE BEST STRATO ALBUM OF ALL TIME" and there other who maybe like a few songs or whatever. And then their are those that say that Strato is nothing without Tolkki....

Its all personal opinion and as human being we forget that opinions are our own and we want people to follow our opinions...... Leave em at that door. State your opinion and keep on moving. Don't elaborate on why you wrote.....you own and thats all that matters!

This is the only sentence we need in every discussion concerning the band's evolution. No reason to add anything else, I couldn't agree more with you

Unfortunately, I haven't even gotten the CD in the mail yet. This CD gets a 20 out of 10 review from me just because of the Event Horizon face-melter alone. :drop: And also the Matias solo at the end of Elysium REALLY hit the right spot for me. :omg:

Plus other things that I will listen to more in depth when it's in my hands. Is it just me or is Jens' harpsichord panned to the right and not loud in enough in some songs? Maybe I'm going deaf and these headphones are a gigantic piece of junk. There's a pretty good chance of that.

What a beautiful sad song "Move the mountain" is. A friend of mine died in a car accident last month and it really hits my soft spot. What a funny guy he was...

I totally agree. 8) I got my Elysium Limited Collector's Edition yesterday and I have listen the album almost 24/7. To me it's too early to say which of the songs are the greatest but Under Flaming Skies and The Game Never Ends rocks and Move The Mountain is beautiful.

Such a great album. Thank you Stratovarius! :)

After listening to the whole album today, no song or melody has remained in my memory. Not a problem I would experience with older songs. Still, I am impressed by the greatest sound of a record I have ever heard (together with Polaris). And also, there was some great guitar work - however, nothing that other regular metal bands would not have.
No need to argue, I just wanted to share a different opinion. Good luck, Stratovarius.

I finally got my Elysium disc today.
My CD-burner wasn't working up till now.

Funny reading through the booklet...
Jani Liimatainen participated in the "Teuton Choir". And Santtu Lehtiniemi is also credited for "Guitar recording engineering".
