NEW AVANTASIA ALBUM: "THE MYSTERY OF TIME"
Today we have breathtaking news for all AVANTASIANS: The new album will be called “AVANTASIA - THE MYSTERY OF TIME“, and as previously reported is set for release in March.

Immediately after the release of this new Metal Opera, based on a story written by Tobias Sammet, the band will embark on a full-fledged indoor-tour, during which the band and special guests will bring the epic undertaking to the stage. Due to embracing all of the different eras and history of AVANTASIA these shows will have an extended playing time, and the whole evening will be dedicated to Avantasia with no support acts. Guests and album details will be announced soon!"




I can still remember how it felt like to be genuinely excited about new Avantasia / Sammet releases, around the time when Metal Opera III was announced. Now I kind of only hope he doesn't fuck it up too badly.

yeah you can say that about the metal operas, but i think even among those generic power metal songs from that era (remember the context when they were released back in 2001) there are fine masterpiece, im gonna do my personal top 10 tobi songs you make me think!!! i hate that!

in non especific order of course, i love all of those songs, if you dig up early edguy stuff like the ones from vain glory opera they sound a little more power metal than the today stuff that is a little more rock and roll.

New Guest Announced Mr. RONNIE ATKINS (Pretty maids) here's what Tobias said about it.

Tobias comments: "I have been a huge Pretty Maids fan since I was a teenager. I already asked Ronnie to be on the Metal Opera in 1999, but he was busy back then. Last year I saw Pretty Maids live, and they were a steam train on stage, unbelievable. After the show we met and Ronnie was a great guy. Finally after 13 years, I am really proud to have him on the new Avantasia album. And his kick-ass performance leaves no doubt: It was a great decision to ask him!"

A PRODIGAL SON RETURNS TO THE WORLD OF ROCK
He hasn't been on stage for years, but he has shown his abilities as one of Germany‘s finest vocalists in the backing choirs on countless album productions. Now he will hit the road with Avantasia. Many of you may remember the legendary German band Heavens Gate. No less a singer than Heavens Gate vocalist Thomas Rettke will join the flying opera on the road!


I was expecting someone more prominent from the vague cocktease-post he released on Facebook, but ok, I'm still keeping my expectations low for this album.
Just get Hansi Kürsch and Jon Oliva there Toby! You've worked with them before and probably still have them on speed-dial.

Edit: ..That is unless it's already pretty much completed, like I would imagine if they've arranged listening sessions already.
Well, maybe next time.
