Stratovarius headlines ProgPower 2014!

Post by Rebel » Sat Sep 07, 2013 7:29 am

For all of us tortured North American Stratovarius fans, we'll finally get to see a full and glorious set from Stratovarius at ProgPower 2014 in Atlanta. There's probably not even a press release on this yet, because they announced it earlier tonight at ProgPower 2013, but then again, there's 3 writers from Black Wind Metal there this year. The festival is in Atlanta. Sometime in early September (Appx. a year from now).

The full lineup is as follows
ProgPower USA 2014 Friday:
Disperse
Orden Ogan
Leprous
Overkill
Seventh Wonder
Stratovarius (headliner)

Saturday night:
Withem
Divided Multitude
Voodoo Circle
Masterplan
Pain of Salvation
Jon Oliva's Pain (headliner)

For those of you unfamiliar with Orden Ogan, they kick more ass that you have. Yes, even you AAAAAAAAAA.

Oden's Organ, eh? Perhaps I will give it a try.

Actually with this progpower lineup I think I might actually go next year. Masterplan, Seventh Wonder, Stratovarius, AND Pain of Salvation? Yum.

Actually, I hate Pain of Salvation, but at least I've heard of them, which is something..

I'd love to see some of you there. I know most of the black wind metal crew will be there, so that's fun

stratovarius have fans in usa?? IMPRESSIVE!!!!!!

i hope that isnt like argentina that have 3000 fans as an exorbitant amount of people...

Is a nightmare for a band with more of 30 years in the music more of 10 albums recorded, playing so good and more nice productions, got so poor reactions in the most part of the world.....
life is unfair

the same for Timo Tolkki and is *land of hope" 36.300 views in YouTube!!!! por tolkki, he can die of depression.....

Too far from Montréal :( 15h drive or 600$ flight...maybe I'll check for a Montréal-Atlanta bus...less expensive.

I'd love to go to ProgPower, but I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed that maybe this will result in a U.S. tour.

No North American tour for Stratovarius in 2014. ProgPower USA is an exclusive U.S. appearance.

Hope to see you in Atlanta.

US exclusive or North American exclusive?...there's also Canada in North America...I'm waiting for a canadian tour. If there is not, maybe I'll try to convince some friends to do a 15 hour bus drive to Atlanta...

When I say North America, I am indeed referring to both countries. With only one U.S. date, it would not be a true North America tour even if they played ten shows in Canada.

I have zero knowledge of their booking intentions anywhere than the U.S.

cheers,

Glenn

There's a chance the band might do Canada-PPUSA-Mexico, because the biggest opposition to North American tours is the visa-issues with playing in the USA. Glenn is quite fond of his "USA-Exclusive" acts, as the festival has experienced troubles selling out the last few years. The flip side is that Jon Oliva's Pain is a HUGE draw for the festival, as USPM fans go gaga for Savatage, and he'll be playing an old Savatage album.

I think the $$ is the bigger problem. Lots of Finnish bands tour in the US...

It's getting enough money to offset the costs of a Visa long enough for a meaningful tour.

Why can't they just get Master Card?

Master Card won't deal with the Finns... Or the Swedes for that matter. They had a nice thing going with the Germans, but now that Jorg is out of the band, it's gotten difficult.
