60% of montrealers can speak both French and English, to some varying degree. All jobs that deal with the public requires you to be able to speak both languages. For jobs that don't deal with the public, I think most of your co-workers would be able to communicate with you in english.

I didn't play RPGs as a child, and I can't say I care much about them as an adult. Their gameplay consists primarily of a menu simulator. I've never been much of a story guy. I think a lot of the problem is that most RPGs simply aren't difficult enough and require no strategy to win. If you had to think and plan, I think they would be more enjoyable.

I will say that I really enjoyed Paper Mario and its sequel. It's incredibly cozy and the gameplay is augmented by the use of action commands during battle, as opposed to being strictly a menu simulator. The boss fights do make you have to think and strategize at a certain point. Fun stuff!

Interesting topic! I believe there isn't a hard cut-off year or anything. It's more a difference in philosophy on the part of the game developer. I'd define a current-age gamer as one who prioritizes cinematics over gameplay. Retro-age gamers prioritize gameplay over all other aspects.

I see this as a push to make games more accessible to a larger amount of people. The rationale is that not everyone enjoys playing a video game, but most people can enjoy watching a movie, or in this case, a movie game. I'm weird and don't enjoy watching movies at all, so I play video games to entertain myself instead. I haven't played a Sony game in a very long time. Games on that platform became cinematized far quicker than others, as that is Sony's target. Of course, there are still games produced with gameplay in mind (like most of Nintendo's games), in today's world.

Ys I & II has one of my all-time favorite video game soundtracks. Fantastic artwork & imagery, too, I must say. I already posted about the soundtrack a while ago, but that was in a pre embedded youtube video time period for this forum. This time, I've curated the arrangements of the tracks and linked the versions that I liked most (I've only included the tracks I really liked, by the way). For each track, the embedded one is my favorite version.

'pc88' is the original FM synthesis version for the PC-8800 line of computers, circa 1987-88. Composers: Yuzo Koshiro, Mieko Ishikawa, & Hideya Nagata.

'chr' is the in-house band arrangement made in 2009 which was used in the remake, Ys I & II: Chronicles. Mixture of orchestral and power prog. arrangments. Arranger: Yukihiro Jindo.

'pce' is the PC Engine port arrangement released in 1990. Arranger: Ryo Yonemitsu.

'sav' Special Arrange Version. Not used in any game. It is a stand-alone arrangement of the soundtrack, released in 1990. Arranger: Ryo Yonemitsu.
