I've seen them live, right at the front actually... they were entertaining. Great skills, very fast catchy songs... but that was about it. I dunno, they're not the sort of band i can listen to too much.

And btw, Jari can totally BLOW Adrian away when it comes to bass... best powermetal bassist around by far, maybe even in all metal! Not as flashy as John Myung, but DAMN the things he does...

That's not completely true The fact is, some bassists play in such a low tone that you can barely even distinguish the bass.

Bass playing is so feckin' hard I should know it, I've been playing guitar for some time now, and whenever I pick a bass I always fuck up

Yes, they're known as 'crap'. Cutting out all the mids and treble... "'cos it sounds cool, man!" Yes, when youre playing on your own. Add a band situation and you wont know what you're doing

Better yet, look at Fieldy from Korn. He kills the midrange as well (real smart, real smart when you have 2 stupidly downtuned guitars and a wave of low frequencies and no mids) and also downtunes to the point that his strings get stuck to the pickups. Result? Sometimes you can hear a 'clak-clakkity-clak clak clak'. I guess that's what you get for thinking the bass should actually play an important role in the harmony of the music, or, hell, even actually being heard at all.

Absolutely rubbish.

The level of inadequacy in bassplayers is sad.

I'm not complaining though, more work for me! I'm not great or anything (I consider myself moderately capable) but so many bassists don't have a clue what they're doing.

When Dragonforce have been going for 25 years and still put out great, original albums I'll accept them as better.

Not after they've put 2 out which are good fun, but not much more than that.
