Sammet: The next Avantasia "will surely piss people off

i think some people need to just ignore anything he makes as if it does not exist rather than complain about it. he will be making music for years to come, if people are going to bitch about his musical taste and expression, why can't they just enjoy what they enjoy and forget about him?

In my case I have been expecting this album so anxiously since it was announced just to realise that I didn't like it at all, that's disappointment. It really pisses you off when those kind of things happen.
But of course I understand other people like it. It's all a matter of tastes.

It's according to everyone taste. In my opinion I prefer WAY too much listening to "Vain Glory Opera", "Mandrake" and "Helfire Club". And you are right Ragehead91, since "Rocket Ride" they fucked up the power metal. I hate Tobbias so much for doing that!!

It's according to everyone taste. In my opinion I prefer WAY too much listening to "Vain Glory Opera", "Mandrake" and "Helfire Club". And you are right Ragehead91, since "Rocket Ride" they fucked up the power metal. I hate Tobbias so much for doing that!!

Anyway, power metal or not, all of those three just sound hell of a lot of better than Rocket Ride! They are hell of a personal style albums each. Rocket Ride is, like, 80s hair metal tribute, no, rip-off, with worse songs basically. I'm glad there's The Asylum anyway. Tinnitus Sanctus seemed bland for me, too. The chart position card is pretty stupid. They make better chart positions because music is more radio (consumer) friendly than ever. Just look at what's Avantasia's most hyped, most often released and damn sure most listened song (on Last FM anyway ). Yes, Lost in Space...

With that being said, I still can enjoy some new Edguy music. I think hearing about The Scarecrow being more pop influenced I kind of prepared myself to a certain change of style. (I don't think I'd heard Rocket Ride before that at all, and to this day I've listened to it two times at max.) I'm very open to this in general as well. Grand an artist the freedom of choice, and you can actually like the newer stuff, or bitch for a minute and then go back to the old that is and always will be good. This, and I can damn sure enjoy the band as well. I was very sceptical with their Fucking with F*** live DVD with supposedly a bad setlist, but once my friend showed it to me, I was totally blown away by their good times and amazing performances.

I actually have to agree with ggonza43 on this one. Yes, Sammet sort of tried to look Bon Joviish/Glamrockis and he always was some sort of Diva, but this isn't what ggonza43 was talking about. Sammet is the leader of a german Power Metal bandf which is relatively succesful at the moment and even gets recognition outside of Europe, South America and Japan. But they're not on the same level with Bon Jovi. This guy is propably one of the most well-known rock/metal singers on this planet and still tours around the world, selling out big halls. I doubt Jovi knows anything about Sammet. Maybe he has heard of that funny, german guy who sort of looks like him. But I doubt that he knows who Sammet is and what Edguy and Avantasia are.

Why the fuck should he know what those guys are doing? Why should he care? Maybe he doesn't even like those bands. Yes, there might is the chance that he was told or read somewhere that those guys will guest on the album of some german musicians, but I still highly doubt that he knows who Sammet is or what Edguy or Avantasia are.

ANOTHER VOCALIST CONFIRMED FOR NEW ALBUM

On April 3rd Tobias Sammet will unleash what he personally calls ‘the most intense epic’ in his career so far, a two disc continuation of his latest Avantasia album “The Scarecrow” which went straight in the Top-10 album charts in several nations upon its release. The album featured high profile guest musicians such as Alice Cooper, Michael Kiske, Rudolf Schenker and many more and received an award for “Best Rock Production 2008” by the association of sound engineers in Germany.

For his forthcoming releases “The Wicked Symphony” and “Angel Of Babylon” (both albums will also be available in one box set on April 3rd) Tobias has confirmed the following guest stars so far:

Klaus Meine (Scorpions), Ripper Owens (ex-Judas Priest), Eric Singer (KISS), Michael Kiske (ex-Helloween), Jorn Lande (Masterplan), Russell Allen (Symphony X), Bob Catley (Magnum), Jens Johansson (Stratovarius), Alex Holzwarth (Rhapsody), Felix Bohnke (Edguy), Producer Sascha Paeth (ex-Heavens Gate) and Andre Matos (ex-Angra).

Tobias: “I first heard this guy when I was 15. That's when his band played a little regional gig and me and Edguy were on the billing too. Now, all I knew is that the band featured the guitar player of Kingdom Come, but I immediately fell in love with Ralf’s voice, it blew me away and I wanted to be able to sing like this guy one day. To me he was the mullet-version of Geoff Tate, haha. I called him a few years later and asked him to sing backing vocals on Edguy’s Vain Glory Opera album and he agreed, as long as music and lyrics had no negative or even Satanic spirit or message. Well... To cut a long story short: He ended up on several Edguy albums (remember the Hallelujah-passage on “Theater Of Salvation”?) and a few years later on both Metal-Opera albums of Avantasia – as a lead singer (Memory from the second album). And now I have managed to get him in the studio again for a track called “Black Wings”, it’s a very dark track and the vocals sound very eerie. You gotta check this out, it’s something I guess we haven’t done before. Rambi sings like no one else, he’s got a unique voice and I am happy to have one of my best friends on the album again!”
