Well, I think what Dave meant, was that "Christmas" is refferred as the birthday of Jesus Christ Nazareth, and thus for most the offical time of love, friends and just mostly loving and remembering all those who are close to you... and as far as I (too) understand, X-mas is more of the commercial christmas, and the time sellings go up and people buy presents to everybody and all that kind of christmas hope this helps

I thought exactly the same. X-mas is about presents, Chirstmas is about family, and is rather a name of a christian celebration.

Agree. But actually, the fact is that Christmas is nothing other than a useless celebration. The 1st sense of Jesus b-day has disappeared totally in profit of the commercial promoters. That sucks! So, man can really say "X-mas"...

Well for me, Christmas is one of the best times, because, as 'Kain's Seventh Son' said, it's the time people are SUPPOSED to remember Christ's birth, hence the name Christmas. Xmas was just another name it got given to try and push the real meaning out of it and make it more commercial.

Okay, you've pushed me.

The whole reason for the Xmas/Christmas thing is that in the original Aramaic, the X character represents Christ. Take for example, the Ic-thoos.

The letters typically pictured in this symbol are a literary representation of the title "Jesus Christ, God's Son, Saviour".

Or something to that effect.

The point is: the X character, does, in effect, actually say 'Christ'.

Just not in English.

I mean, who cares that X-mas have a different origin than Christmas, they both "represent" the same period of the year. For many people, X-mas is a shortcut word for Christmas.

Today I renewed my Italian passport. It's funny because I have so many passports it's confusing... I guess that's why I'm Stealth... I can go unnoticed in many places and change my identity if so needed.

As for this thing, me myself am offically christian (Lutheric if specific) but I find the techings of the religion quite not to my taste, I will put up more on the religion topic... but basicly I think there still IS some magic left in christmas it still is the time to be with family and love even more those who one just loves That's something no one should ever forget Never!
