I enjoy his music, but that would propably be the smartest thing to do.

I don't care about it, it's just for me...You are an argentinian like me, you know how it feelsHector Leonardo wrote:I'm sure he will be happy when you respect him againggonza43 wrote:He doesn't have the abbility to hold another band...What he should do is, as you say, start a solo project with lots of guest musicians, and that's all. I know, that it's a band. My point, was it, that nobody of current Stratovarius lineup played in Twilight Time and Dreamspace, which are brilliant albums and true classics. Tolkki wrote all songs of those albums and he wrote also other classic albums like Episode and Visions. Polaris or Kotipelto's solo albums will never be classic albums. Most of people says, that "Stratovarius doesn't need Tolkki anymore", because current lineup can play Tolkki's songs very well, but I think, if they would play only Polaris, Kotipelto and Johansson songs, lot of fans would abandon them. Or are you denying, that you want to hear Falling Star instead of Kiss of Judas, Higher We Go instead of Speed of Light or Somehow Precious instead of Season of Change, I really doubt it. The reason, why most of those songs, which current Stratovarius play are old Tolkki songs is it, that fans want to hear them, because they love them. It's sad, that some of them have forgotten, who wrote them.Rebel wrote:Stratovarius is a band. Not a person. Not a solo project. The band was OWNED by one person, who wrote most of the music, but it was still a band. This was also a band that saw marginal success until the addition of seasoned musicians Jens Johansson and Jorg Michael. Those two, and their contributions to Episode and Visions are a large part of what made the band successful, maybe even as much as Tolkki's compositions.
That's a ridiculous argument. You're comparing the very-average-songs from one album to the best songs from the last eleven. I easily prefer "Forever is Today" over "Just Carry On', "Deep Unknown" over "Witch Hunt", and "Winter Skies" over "Before the Winter".Babylonian wrote:are you denying, that you want to hear Falling Star instead of Kiss of Judas, Higher We Go instead of Speed of Light or Somehow Precious instead of Season of Change, I really doubt it.
Albums need time to become classics. No album becomes a classic in a week.I know, that it's a band. My point, was it, that nobody of current Stratovarius lineup played in Twilight Time and Dreamspace, which are brilliant albums and true classics.

I reserve the right, occasionally.Hector Leonardo wrote:How come so serious suddenly?AAAAAAAAAA wrote:That's a ridiculous argument. Sometimes I have to prove to myself I can still do it.

The cabinet is almost assembled.
Rebel wrote:I just picked Timo's brain a bit on Facebook, he says that Return to Dreamspace is on ice, he wants to do photography, and that since RR no longer exists, it is up to Napalm Records to release samples or early songs
I'm sorry if I gave an impression about Kotipelto as a horrible writer. I don't think I did. I like Polaris.Hector:You see you got me wrong just like I thought, I never said that I hated Tolkki and if I implied it that was never intentional.
You just like me are stating an opinion, to you Kotipelto may be a horrible writer but to me his songs are great catchy power metal tunes which I listen to constantly.
Me too!! I think you are confusing me with someone else. I was only saying that to me it seems that nobody can say anything good about Tolkki here without being critizedNow I respect the fact that you don't like them however I think they are great, same with many of the songs from polaris I always like hearing Falling star, I always like hearing Higher we go, hell I love the entire album.
Could be. I guess at the end of the day, only he knows what is the truth. There are a lot of similarities to Blackmore indeed. As far as the decisions Tolkki has been making that is once again a matter of opinion, yes I do believe disbanding RR was a bad move, I do believe that Tolkki has had plenty of opportunity to tour with the band but just hasn't, I believe he is a lot like Ritchie Blackmore in the fact that it's hard for anyone to work with him for extended periods of time.
.Am I saying he's a horrible human being? No not at all, I'm merely saying that if this was one of the other members doing this you would be a lot more harsher on them then you are on him
The solo is amazing. But this is not power metal. More like hard rock.RazielSR wrote:Dreamchild sounds to me like the song Age of Aquarius...even the solo.
I suppose it is the single.
The difference is he's not screwing a singer 8 years younger than his first child.Hector Leonardo wrote: Could be. I guess at the end of the day, only he knows what is the truth. There are a lot of similarities to Blackmore indeed.
Maybe you listen to the solo of Dreamchild and think againstratodan1990 wrote:Am I the only person in thinking that maybe Stratovarius should consider taking Tolkki back as rhythm guitarist???
Not at the moment, thinks wouldn't work out as they are. Give it some years though after Tolkki has had a good break, things back into place for him. I mean, Polaris is fresh sounding. And i'm not saying that it should be a definate consideration for the band - i'm just saying that it's a possibility.
If theres one thing I have always thought about Strato, it's that the live sound could be so much more fulfilling for the fans if they had two guitarists out there. But also, if there was any best way for true power to come back from their old music, then they need the guy who created it for 23 years. Mr. Tolkki.
I can see this post being controversialseriously though, many bands have done this and got back to being back and better than ever.
But not now, and maybe not ever. It's possible though...
I suppose, but I didn't really mean by necessity, I meant somewhat for naturally the way how the band evolved. For me, the first New Era demos with Kotipelto sounded more like the new Stratovarius album than Polaris did (Even though I like both albums)RazielSR wrote:Having Jens in the band, do you want a rhythm guitar?...
Could be an option, but I don't see Stratovarius as a band with rhythm guitarrist. It is a band with a keyboardist, an extremely talented keyboardist that can make all the sounds and they don't need rhythm guitar. I think that doesn't fit with Stratovarius music. What happened in Polaris is that you listened a lot of keyboard and less guitar and I suppose that it was because Matias was new and he was not into the band as today. The next album will have more guitar for sure and I hope, I HOPE a lot of keyboards, more than in Polaris.
Remember Elements album, that albums had a lot of keyboards too.
I like the new way that I think Stratovarius is going, some prog elements here and there and versatility without losing the essence of speed/power metal. I see it like the way Symphony X made some songs.
And about live performances, I think they have been always good the way they have been. I don't feel the necessity of having a rhythm guitar. Seems like if TT had to be in Stratovarius as something, out of necessity.
EDIT: And TT as a rhythm guitar is like having Jens being a keyboardist for a wedding. TT is a guitar player with an incredible amount of talent and technique. Should be a waste using that talent as a rhythm guitar.
