Re: Dreamchild
Any particular Jazz albums you would recommend? A friend of mine suggested "Kind of Blue" by Miles Davis and although I enjoyed it, I almost fell asleep. Am I missing the point of Jazz? I really want something a little more "upbeat". Maybe a power metal jazz.

You can use Brotzmann as "Goodnightmusic" and Miles to wake you then...AAAAAAAAAA wrote:Any particular Jazz albums you would recommend? Progressive Jazz Fusion, if I had to classify it.AGAG wrote:That's some seriously cool shit, I'll get the album. Re: Dreamchild
Yes. That's because Kiske really has a big range. TK doesn't have that range yet he tries to sing like that. And that's a shame IMO because TK has a really cool voice, and that would show even more if he stayed in his own range instead of oversinging himself.Hector Leonardo wrote:Michael Kiske has no problems to sing high live although he is older than Kotipelto.
Re: Dreamchild
I usually like music that is more ''complex'' if you would, but holy shit that was a lot to take in.AGAG wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvFJp1WTVFUAAAAAAAAAA wrote:Any particular Jazz albums you would recommend? That song that Rebel posted was flipping cool.

Re: Dreamchild
I think we should focus on Dreamchild, not Kotipelto's high notes or jazz.
Re: Dreamchild
Alright let's.
Mediocore song nothing big besides the solo to comment on.

Re: Dreamchild
If you think, that Dreamchild is mediocre song, it's your opinion, but there's also people who likes it and who wants to discuss about it. Some times I wonder, why people can't accept each other's opinions.Kosmo wrote:Alright let's.

Not to start an argument but at what point did i say anything about other peoples opinions?

Re: Dreamchild
You justified off topic discussion, because you think, that Dreamchild is mediocre. If you don't like the song, it doesn't mean, that you should justify off topic discussion. This topic has a title Dreamchild, so we should discuss about it, nothing else. That's what I meant.Kosmo wrote:Not to start an argument but at what point did i say anything about other peoples opinions?
Re: Dreamchild
Ah ok and when does Kiske live showsHector Leonardo wrote:Michael Kiske has no problems to sing high live although he is older than Kotipelto.
Part of Stratovarius sound are those high melodies and I think they should stay there as well.
Re: Dreamchild
Solo is good, nothing special in this "Radio-Friendly" song. I agree with "mediocre" opinion
Re: Dreamchild
True. I prefer that they not play high songs like Father Time instead of play the song transposed down. Maybe he need just some time to reach again that high parts and he need to be calmed and without pressure. I prefer that they play other songs (there are a lot in Stratovarius discography).empi wrote:Ah ok and when does Kiske live showsHector Leonardo wrote:Michael Kiske has no problems to sing high live although he is older than Kotipelto.
Part of Stratovarius sound are those high melodies and I think they should stay there as well.I agree it is not as it was but this version of father time is still ok for a live version.better this way and high than perfect and sung lower. It kill the song in my opinion if you transpose it down.
Or at least, mix a bit more the setlist (which I think they should start changing for the next tour) and just play for example one high song. I mean, if you have in the same list: Higher we go, Father time, Paradise, Against the wind...that's too much. With just one high song it's enough. Maybe in the future he is gonna feel better again with that kind of songs.
And about the age, I think that's not the main problem. There are singers that sing a lot better at the age of TK than before.
For example, I think he sings better than before when he sings low parts or low songs. That was a "problem" in the past.
What it's clear is that his tone/timbre is wonderful as always, just that he is having problems with some ranges that he can't reach now.
About Dreamchild, am I the only one who thinks that Gus sounds strange? I mean, like if the vocals had a bad production or something. Gus was a singer that I liked while listening the first demos when RR was created, but sounds strange to me in this song. Maybe it's just me. I really want to hear the rest of the album when I'll have it just to see if I feel this, only in this song.
And yes, I also think that the song is mediocre, considering that comes from Tolkki.

that song was written for kiske's voice. awesome song though. It would fit right in with place vendome.adrian9 wrote:hahaha yeah !! I dont think he is a bad singer, but dont seem to fit in for some reason....I put it this way, gus is good, Timo K is god...what a huge difference an "o" can makerikkertje wrote:Cool to hear new stuff indeed. The only thing is that I really can't stand Gus' voice. I don't know what it is. I just really dislike his sound. The song itself is kinda cool!

Re: Dreamchild
Well that's true.
But one thing has bugged me for a while..
Did Buckethead's Ghost song come before or after Strato's Lead us into the light?
