and for the copy not copy, I dont think YJM copied Rithcie, he borrowed (or stole whatever you may prefer) some stuff from blackmore and then put his own tone and dynamics into it.

rebel is the one saying malmsteen trys to copy richie,as if richie invented western music theory and is the alpha of music. im just saying that i would say malmsteen pushed and evolved on some of what richie did for the evolution of electric guitar playing, rather than that malmsteen tried to play what richie did as richie played it. how loose should the term "copy" be? to me, "copy" is technical. as for the comment of influences, paganini or however it's spelled pushed malmsteen to want to do for guitar what pag did for the violin, something richie did not try to become and critisized malmsteen for.
