Re: Technical questions for band
Maybe I should have been more clear. The core of the music (lead vocals, guitars, keys, bass and drums) should of course be played live. But if you can make this core even better with a tape for backing vocals and such, I think that's not a sin.AAAAAAAAAA wrote:If Kotipelto lip-syncs, it might sound better toorikkertje wrote: And IMO it sounded much better with the tape, than with the live backing vocals.
That's what I meant.
Re: Technical questions for band
I really wonder if you would just be more satisfied if live concerts were just everyone getting together and listening to a CD really, really, loudly. There should be NO part of a live performance that's prerecorded.rikkertje wrote:True, but I think it is no problem at all to enrich your performance with some technical stuff if it sounds cool. I liked it a lot more. Not that your backing vocals are bad, I just love the original backing vocals on HHaL.

I would like to defy the laws of boolean logic by disagreeing with both of you.Rebel wrote:I really wonder if you would just be more satisfied if live concerts were just everyone getting together and listening to a CD really, really, loudly. Your conclusion is touching and beautiful. Please write a song about it. I will dance.rikkertje wrote:That's your opinion. I will! Should I use backing tracks or find a live backing choir when I play it live?AAAAAAAAAA wrote:Your conclusion is touching and beautiful. Please write a song about it. Re: Technical questions for band
I will now perform an interpretive dance piece in honor of this thread.
There. Now I feel much better!
Regarding in-ears, they are a pain in the ass, we tried them for the whole band with Stratovarius around 2003. I agree with what Lauri wrote. To hear the audience you need a special pair of audience mics... a PITA in other words. And if the monitor mix goes all to hell for some reason (.... and they sometimes do) it really sucks.
Regarding backing tracks, I always felt uncomfortable about the fact that it made the tempos the same as the album -- and very difficult to change on the fly (this was 2003 after all). Very often the songs felt slow in a live context.

Thank you Jeans for your answer, I like it and I like you, haha, just a little bit drunk plus some good music(stratovarius). Anyway, like you....JensJohansson wrote:I will now perform an interpretive dance piece in honor of this thread.
