My dad bought me a Stryper cd when i was 10. Not because my dad is cool, but because he had no idea what the hell he was doing. That was the first time i heard metal...i liked it but wasn't exactly sure what to do with it.

I discovered Sepultura when i was 13....oddly enough, the manner in which i discovered them was because they were on a Mortal Kombat soundtrack. I made everybody within 20 feet of me listen to it and then i bought Against and Chaos A.D. Then, i listened to nothing but Sepultura for a year.

Then I found the local metal scene and that was the beginning of the end.

As I recall, I believe The First Ones to enlighten me with this great scene of music, metal (to be exact; powermetal) were Stratovarius and Rhapsody. Since then I have extended the favorite ones to Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, Hammerfall.. and so on..

Stryper rules! same as petra, I heard those bands when I was 4 I think

Stratovarius and Gamma Ray.

I think that for an year i have listened only strato because i wasn't a metal head anymore

Then i decided to listen at some others bands and i jut loved Gamma Ray...

then i continued with Blind guardian,helloween,manowar,metallica,maiden etc...

But talking about power metal it was Rhapsody... With Legendary Tales..
o no, i think it was Stratovarius with Episode.,.. well i dont remember.

The first bands I remember (yes, I do ) listening to were Kiss and Pink Floyd when I was two (2) years old! I loved the video clips! Then I listened to Twisted Sister, Quiet Riot, Alice Cooper and a lot of Glam Metal bands in early 80's.

I evolved to a higher level when I discovered Iron Maiden and Helloween on mid 80's, but I still liked some speed/thrash bands like Megadeth, Slayer and Metallica back then.

My highest evolution were on the mid 90's (Since '94 and still on going) when I found out the brilliant world of Power-Epic-Melodic-Neoclassic-Prog-Symphonic-Metal (I guess you may know a lot of bands that match this genres ) THE BEST MUSIC EVER!

Children of Bodom was the first.
Then I heard about Stratovarius and finally I heard songs called Paradise and Black Diamond (does anybody know?) and that's it.

First post on this forum even if I read it since few month.

I think the first band I listened to was Metallica. Then came System of a down, Nightwish, Strato, Dream Theater, Children of Bodom and many more.... Not sure of the order they came after Metallica.

I begun to be tired, so i found Stratovarius Im glad that i found them.. So it start to go from Heavy Metal to Power Metal

I began listen to the metal from NAZARETH & SCORPIONS.
Also It was ARIA (one of the greatest Russian band).

Now I listen to the many groups (but thrash and power like the most)

My first Metal band was none other than Iron Maiden then I went to Dio and then to Power Metal music starting with Kamelot

When I first started listening to Metal, AC/DC's "Back in Black" was hot. Also Metallica's "Ride the Lightning" and Black Sabbath's "Mob Rules"... early eighties stuff.

I became a serious metal-head when Iron Maiden emerged with the beautiful "Somewhere in Time."

Back then my favorite groups were Metallica, TestAmenT, Helloween, Exodus, King Diamond, Anthrax, Heathen, Venom, etc.

Nowadays my faves are Gamma Ray, Iron Maiden, Helloween, Nightwish, Lost Horizon, King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, and so on and so forth.

Also I used to listen to Iron Maiden , Nirvana and most of all Led Zeppelin ...

I started with Maiden and AC/DC in 1983 ( Piece of Mind, Killers and Number... were my first tapes). Then I got into metal with the rest of Maiden albums, AC/DC, Motorhead, Metallica and Saxon.
