I guess the words that every non-finnish knows are "perkele", "vittu" and... "munakarva" :)

Equinox, I was just thinking the same, only it's spelled kuolema tekee taiteilijan :D

What about Lappi (Laponia! A brand of ice cream in Argentina :D ) and Erämaajärvi?

And what about Joki, Levottomat, Kauas pilvet karkaavat, Hymypoika and Mies vailla menneisyyttä? I watched all of them through the internet, since, as you can imagine, we don't get those movies here :D

In which website did you find them?
Hymypoika is a really crap movie. Mies Vailla Menneisyyttä is pretty good, but not as good as Kauas Pilvet Karkaavat in my opinion.
You should try to find "Menolippu Mombasaan' (a bit sad, though...) and "Nousukausi" (interesting story and really funny movie. One of the best movie i have ever seen).

Here we have the ETERNAL mistake English-speakers make: they mix the verbs "ser" and "estar" because English only has "to be". In other words, the verb "to be" is used both as "ser" and "estar". Examples with translations: to be on fire = ESTAR en fuego; to be old = SER viejo.
Therefore, the correct phrase would be "el gato está en fuego".
Also, most English speakers don't bother with the accents :D
The second phrase, with accents added, would be "No nada de la película".
Sorry ClickWitch.... I couldn't resist :D
I live in an English-speaking city and my English sucks, so consider this my little revenge :D although your Spanish is very good and I can understand it perfectly :)

eMule :D

Thanks cliff for the tip. I watched Nousukausi and I liked it. It was very enjoyable, although the movie's concept of poverty was a little weird to me :D
Kauas was ok, but a bit boring. Mies vailla menneisyyttä is probably the best one of the ones I watched.

"through the internet". Of course... I thought you meant watch them online, on a streaming pay-per-view website (cause I'm interesting in something like that).
Do you have subtitles with that ?
(Only) once I downloaded a finnish movie and there were no subtitles. Quite difficult to understand.

(off-tobik : the finnish version of "Brother Bear", with Kotipelto singing, is great)

I think the story of Nousukausi is really original and it also makes people realzie about some things. I'm quite sure that this story already happened for real to some people. One exemple is that if someone find the key of your house and decide to live there, it's totally "legal", at least you need few months of procedures before getting your house back. Pretty scary!
Kauas was ok, but a bit boring. Mies vailla menneisyyttä is probably the best one of the ones I watched.
A bit boring ? come on, it's a Kaurismäki movie, they all are!
Still, M.v.m. is a really good movie. Definitely not the best ever, but still really nice.
