Stratovarius Community

dunno names, as its mainly played in the radio... but most pop/rap/techno isnt necessarily what i would like to listen to. Fortunately i can always turn that thing of and preserve my hatred for something or someone worthy enough :>

As for metal: Many melodic speed bands, maaany true metal bands, all glam bands, nu metal doesnt even count.. err what else.. Within Temptation!

At least here in France we have rap bands that do make great songs. And guess what ? I like Limp Bizkit , or at least their album Significant Other, dunno why but imo there are great things in it. I like late Offspring too :/ As for metal band, I already have mentioned a couple of times the worst ever imo, Sonata Arctica is lame too (but they DO make great ballads) and most "true" band who I call "Cheese Metal".

IAM is indeet the greatest (Akhenaton solo made great stuff too, just listen to his album Métèque Et Mat), but there are others. I like Sniper's stuff quite much, Assassin is just great and NTM isn't bad either, and a few others.

Ja of course I did. One girlfriend of mine was a fan of rap. Plus the fact that I live in Marseille, so I thinik I hear those shits everyday, everywhere. Those 3 bands are a real danger cause their messages are full of hate.

Think whatever you want, imo those 3 bands are just great. I listen to them quite often and I can tell you I've never killed anybody. Between a Sniper and a HammerFal CD, the choice is quickly done...

You really seem to love Hammerfall (btw, their last album is crap IMO)

Well, you listen to whatever you want, (and it's nice that you hadn't killed anyone). But I still deeply think really bad things about those bands and about rap in general.

I second that. Hanna has a really powerful voice and a great singing.
However, the few songs I heard from her album wasn't so good.

Okay, maybe not the bands I "hate", but some metal bands that I'm really disapointed by.

- Nightwish, Sonta Arctica & Iron Maiden : I used to like them a lot, but I really hate their new material. Sonta became boring, Nightwish commercial and Maiden music and sound became really weak and unprofessional.

- Hammerfall, Primal Fear : It is always the same things, always the same songs... Their first album(s) were great, but nowadays they seem to turn around.

- Within Temptation : i won't comment that one...

@Mafiaboy : I think Hammerfall debut album has something really catchy and good. Same thing with Sonta debut album, even if it's a (good) clone of Strato.
BTW, "Sonta" means "horse shit" in finnish

Indeed Ecliptica had some great highlights on it, the first track has to be one of the best of this fast powermetal crap has ever offered, Blank File that is. Better than any fast Stratovarius song, although the production and the solo work with keys and guitar totally suck. But the song is great.

cliff, what's up with Within Temptation? I could consider them into the "commercial" category where you placed Nightwish when thinking about their latest album, but Mother Earth was HUGE. Can't take that away from them, brilliant shit I say.

About Hanna Pakarinen, I dislike her thin and earbreaking voice, power is worthless without smooth colouring, she sounds nasty, ugh. I could say the same thing about many popular singers who are generally considered good, like Celine Dion, I just can't stand her voice on normal volume levels, it's torture...

I think anything Strato has done is better than this, even Father Time :p About WT, I don't like Mother Erth that much either, but their first album was brillant.
