They're the most boring band on the planet...sure enough they're talented, great musicians, but for me, their music just bores me.
Well we finally have an insight... you simply have a short attention span. Hence the same stuff over and over and over and over is entertaining for you, which is why you like Dragonforce so much :D

The Spirit Carries On
In the Name of God
Metropolis Pt1

Well, a lot more, but you should start with these ones. Or with their Live Scenes In New York DVD.

I don't like their style, and music doesn't sound too good and special for me... THIS IS MY OPINION.

Dream Theater's good songs are great, but their bad songs are just that. I like Dream Theater, but I can't just throw most of their CD's on and let it rip from start to finish the way I can with say, Stratovarius or Sonata. My opinion is that Dream Theater, recently has gotten too far ahead of it's self. The talent levels in Dream Theater, Stratovarius, and Sonata Arctica in my opinion are equal, with an edge going to Stratovarius because I really don't think there is a keyboard player alive today that is better than Jens. There are other great keyboardists, but better than he, not likely. Jens Johansson is to the keyboard what Michael Jordan was to basketball.

At the end of the day I think Strato and Sonata still haven't forgotten that they are a Metal/Rock band, and that is one reason I like both of them better than DT.

Having said that, Images and Words is their most solid effort. Their most recent, Train of Thought is the best since Images.

I like John Petrucci alot as a solo artist.

Their most recent is Octavarium.

Which I like a lot more than Train of Thought, but I agree completely with Jesse their good songs are awesome and the bad songs I can't stand. But I think that Petrucci is a bit better than Tolkki because of his diversity and how he can change from fast to really fast to insanely fast in the same scale, he plays with time a lot when playing the guitar.

I stand corrected, I havent heard Octavarium yet. When I commented that I thought they were getting ahead of themselves, I was thinking mainly of Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence. There are some great spots on those CD's to be sure, but there are a few stinkers too.

Petrucci has a different style than Tolkki. I wouldn't rate one over the other. I have John Petrucci's instructional video. He's awesome. If I were to choose a style I liked better I would have to go with Timo's. I do love when John just starts playing fast right out of nowhere, like a turbo kicks in. Amazing.

Correction, Strato and Sonata keep doing the same thing over and over again (a bit less true for Strato) while DT do a real effort of creation and imagination on each and every album and you won't ever have two DT albums sounding the same. You'll never say at a DT release "Baaah, once again DT doing some DT" like I do for Sonata and most Strato. But it seems some people are definitely too narrow-minded and can't accept the fact that a band changes his music style between two consecutive albums...

Of course they do some DT again and again, but that is just normal. You can recognize a band's album of these things. Of course, too much selfcopy is just stupid.

Again Sonata changed a helluva lot in Reckoning Nights, and people say that DT sounds the same album to album because it is still the same sort of riffs and time plays (I never said I think that, it's just what I have heard, and their music is "boring")

@Jesse: I too like TT's guitar style a lot more, much more melodical and linear
