Fright Night? o.O

I'd have to say... Episode is better.
Visions is better
Infinite is better
Maybe on part with Dreamscape.

It's always a little bit hard to make rank from Strato albums because I like a lot many of them. But let's see...

1. Visions
2. Episode
3. Elements pt. 1
4. Polaris
5. Destiny
6. Twilight Time
7. Fright Night
8. Dreamspace
9. Fourth Dimension
10. Stratovarius
11. Infinte
12. Elements pt. 2
13. Intermission

First 5 albums are most I like. Visions and Episode are the best ones and Polaris too. But it's hard to say the "correct" line because sometimes I like some album more than another one so. :P

I'd honestly say i've enjoyed listening to Polaris more than any of the other albums, wich is saying a lot.

I chose number 1.

Here's the thing with the Stratovarius discography, you kind of have to take the Tolkki vocal albums and put them as a separate band, because honestly, those first 3 albums (Or at least, Twilight Time and Dreamspace) are so unique, there's nothing to compare them with inside the strato discography, or even outside of it.

for the love of god,... those people who voted polaris to be in the first place are just newbies... what a bunch of crap.

I have to agree with tolkki on this, "polaris" is a banda trying to sound like stratovarius, and they do it right most of the time, but the album dont have any soul , spice, or whaterever, and catchy tunes are lost gone. I miss tolkki a lot.

on the other hand Polaris is way better than elementes pt 2 and stratovarius.
so I place it in the 11th position....i dont think this album have the substance to take the place of infinite, destiny, episode, fright night , dreamspace, or any other strato album...come on people.......

But they somehow belong to Strato's history, so we can't let them appart no matter how different with the rest of the discography they are. Sure they are WAY too different with "Fourth Dimension" onwards, but they were released under the name of Stratovarius, and in my opinion they belong to the discography

That's a bunch of crap Tolkki would say. Polaris does have soul and is a great album. Also, I'm pretty sure they didn't try to copy the TT era Strato's style, who would do that? Only someone who believes TT's egostic shit thinks that.
And there were some much worse albums in the discography (first two for sure and also others).

Don't argue, we should respect everybody's opinion. If some likes Polaris and some others don't, does it makes any difference if someone complains about each other's statement? With that will you change his/her mind? I don't think so, just chill out :)

I will say this though, i had to think this through for a good 30 minutes before voting. Dreamspace,Visions and Polaris are all three perfect in my opinion.

If you like polaris Im ok with that, I put it in the car a gave a spin to the whole album and didnt feel like singing any choruses...maybe higher we go...thats why I agree with tolkki the album does NOT have any soul...put infinite and TRY not to sing along every song!!! is hard!!!

But voting polaris for the BEST stratovarius album ever??¿¿......comeee on people... wake up!!!!, there is no Jari K, no Timo T, and their are repeating formulas from both elements albums as well Destiny and Infinite albums, how could this be the of best strato==, furthermore how could this be the best of the 3/5 of strato?? THERE IS NO FUCKING WAY!!

But Polaris has Kupiainen, he's amazing and not an egomaniac like Tolkki.
And catchy choruses aren't the most important part for me personally so i don't really care about that.

Oh and Porra is awesome.

Don't really know about the album having no soul part..I don't usually notice stuff like that.

And the last thing..I notice repetitive melodies and lyrics in the older stuff all the time so that doesn't really count.

I know, that Kupiainen is great guitarist, but in Polaris there's too few of his guitar playing. And as to Tolkki's ego, I think that every great musician has a big ego and we should not mock his illness too.

I have noticed, that in the Stratoforum there's people, who can't stand people, who don't like Polaris. I think, that we all should respect each others opinions.

I mean calling people newbies for having a favourite album and whatnot.

I've been listening to Strato since the "Visions" era, knowing them by "Against The Wind", and I myself consider Polaris to be 3rd in my ranking. So beign newbies doesn't involve what he's saying :?

Im sorry if I did touch some nerve around here. wasnt my intention.
If I say "newbies" and you be listening to strato just recently well...you are a newbie....go and do some research..fuck!!
So you want just music to sing along to and that is your way of rating stuff?
Don't ever try Progressive metal or classical.
you can sing the solo intro from "sweet child of mine" , the riff from "surfing with the alien" really lift you up and make you wanna dance or something....you know what I mean??? SOUL!! VIBE!! can you find something like that in this album??? like I said before maybe "higher we go" reaches that point.
progressive u say??¿?¿, there is a lot of instrumental passages Im very sure you remember like a poetry rhyme, and Im so sure you can name it every one of them right now, and singing in your head while writing. can you do the same with polaris??. I bet you cant.
But Polaris has Kupiainen, he's amazing and not an egomaniac like Tolkki.
and whats you point?? Tolkki is a brilliant producer, songwriter ,guitar player, he brought Stratovarius from nowhere to stardom (not alone of course). he got some big big ego....shock horror!!
And the last thing..I notice repetitive melodies and lyrics in the older stuff all the time so that doesn't really count.
yeah like "metal frenzy" and "babylon", or like "030366" and "hunting high and low", "tears of ice" and "drop in the ocean"...I can keep going.
I KNOW!!! THIS WORLD IS FILLED WITH STUPID PEOPLE THAT LIKE THINGS BETTER THAN OTHERS! Mad Mad Mad IT'S JUST SHIT!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHahahahahahaha, good one.

I can: Somehow precious, Emmancipation suite, deep unknown.

I never could grasp why guns and roses is so frisky and stuff though, maybe it's because of the fact that I'm a massive homosexual.

Yes you are right in instruemntal passages catching your ear but I do remember quite a lot from Polaris.
Emancipation Suites for example have a lot of those just as Deep Unknown and most of the other songs too actually.

What do you mean by do some research? Just because i voted Polaris as the number one album i haven't heard every Stratoalbum? I have indeed heard every song they have made but still i prefer Polaris.

I understand your point of view..Maybe Polaris is a bit.Sterile if you will but i still enjoy the album as a whole the most. It's just ''built'' so well.

And yes i have a common dislike towards TT wich i shouldn't have brought into the mix but i did anyways..My bad.

thank you very much sir!! Polaris is quite sterile!! and I see your point about being well built, of course timo k ,jens, porra and matias are good songwriters and then you have the Mikko karmila and mikka jussila tandem, they deliver gold. then again built sounds like work, while created sounds like god send ...this album was built and some of the others were created.

but I do remember Stratosphere.

HAHAHAHA, I just take that guitar riff like an example..but if you recognize a boy george song, or a cher song whitin the first 3 seconds you should worry then.
